Worst camping trip ever ?? Maybe.....

Four day trip cut short. Its the little things in life, first, drive three hours to find the campgrounds CLOSED!! Yes I did check online which said open until Oct 15 depending on snow. Well it was going to be in the 90's this weekend....do ya think !

Found a campground 5 miles back. Seems okay so we plunk down three nights worth. Now the little things start to add up. First these little face flies by the billions!! Next, there's a huge hole in the air mattress,(yes we do have a repair kit but it's about 20 years old and the glue is past it's born-on date). The camp host loans us some gorilla glue so we try it with the patch and some duck tape.

Next we find out that there is going to be a wedding at a cabin across the stream and there will be music and such both Friday and Saturday nights. Wouldn't be a problem for most people but my wife is a wedding coordinator and this was her first weekend off from work since April.

Then we find out that deer hunting season starts on Saturday, oh joy!! Gunshots while camping is such a joy.

So the dog which is part Catahoula or Louisiana pig dog, wants to heard the squirrels but because he has to be leashed he's yelping and crying like a , a, a .....catahouladogthatcan'tgetooffhisleash. fhew.

So anyway, the dog went hiking and swimming in the river and we went back to the camp site. The face flies left with the sun thankfully! So we had dinner and a small camp fire and all was good. I filled the air mattress and we crossed our fingers. NOPE!!

I was on the ground at first wake up, don't know what time it was nor does it matter because at second wake up around 2am a logging truck went by. We were only about 40 yards from the road. Anyway, the logging trucks continued to go by at a rate of one every half hour!

So to recap, face flies, sleeping on hard ground, gun shots, wedding noises and trucks all night long. I felt like Dorothy clicking her heels. There's no place like home, there's no place like home.

It's about 1 hour, depending on how fast you drive, east of Sacramento, Ca. on highway 50. Turn right on Silver fork road At Kyburz. Eight miles on silver fork which is paved to the campgroup WHICH IS CLOSED !!!!!!!

Taking "Hey-buddy" for his first camping trip

It's been kind of a rough year but better late than never, hey-buddy gets to go camping ! Here are some pics of the area, not too far from the Rubicon.

Just sharing. Wish I could take the Jeep, next year for sure ! Off highway roads are closed due to extreme fire danger.
