nicolas-eric i wouldn´t install a turbocharger in a 4cyl that doesn´t give you more torque and HP than a stock 6cyl engine and costs more than an engine-swap

buy a used 6cyl engine and install that in the tj. that will be much better. and with that you can still do some more things like stroking the 6cyl...

4Jeepn Helped a buddy install his tubro but it was for a 6 in Yj a few years ago. thing hauls. But again its at speed. Not sure how it would do on the 4 banger.

Odd is he I might be supercharging my 4.0L YJ with the avenger hopefully, My other friend with a YJ has a chevy 350, soon to be a 383 stroker....

He says he wants to be different by turboing his..

Tiburon I second the supercharger. Turbos are good for what they do, like when you want a huge burst of power high in the RPM range. But if you've driven a 4 banger Jeep, High and RPM arn't really in the same sentance. With a Supercharger you might not have as much power in the end but its a more even exchange of power and that power is available right away.

I did a bit of research before I bought my Wrangler and I soooo
want to put a supercharger in there. I found the one I wanted athttp://www.avengersuperchargers.com/ this thing looks awesome. but I havn't found anyone with one to get their opinion.

skeeter A turbo will help his freeway driving cosiderably but, unless he does mudbogging or sanddrags, it won't do much off road.
The Jeep engines are really well built and should stand up to mild boost pressures, it'll wear out sooner, but shouldn't be too bad.

MR.CLIFFORD Do it. I have a spare engine he can buy when his hits the fan.

Bluesman Turbo lag is a PIA.
If I wanted to boost the low end RPM and get my $$'s worth I would Supercharge it.

Opinions on Turbo-ing a 4cyl???

So, my friend has a 97' tj with a 4" skyjacker kit, and 33" X10.5" BFG AT's...... with 86,xxxK on it

He bought it with some work already done to the engine... Airaide throtle body spacer, and a Airaide cold air intake

Obviously he wants to go faster, dont ask me why, But he wants to turbo it

What are your opinions on this, and are their any other mods to give him alittle more umph....?

Thanks,
Neil
