|NeitherFanboy||So this past Friday, I drove up 101 from California to Oregon (Florence), was there a couple of days, then did I5 back. My first trip since buying the jeep, and there are TONS of jeeps in Oregon. And I waved at all of em. And not one person waved back. Not one. Not in California, not in Oregon. The friend who was with me is convinced the "Jeep Wave" is a myth they tell newbies so we look like idiots waving to all the jeeps! LOL|

2 waves for 10 Jeeps of all flavors today. NM Jeepers are either posers or just not very nice people. I've been keeping a count since reading this post last week. So far I'm 4 waves for 49 Jeepers. It's sad really and totally pisses me off for some reason...
Here's my new wave... maybe it will generate more attention.

Hey TJersey...I was raised on a farm in Northwestern Jersey, near Hackettstown. I left at age 18 lived in Oklahoma for a several years then the last 36 years in Arkansas. A whole lot of folks out here wave regardless of what you drive and almost all the jeeps I pass will exchange a wave. I think less traffic, slower and more "laid back" life style (in the smaller towns and country), tend to allow people to express a more friendly attitude. I encountered the same "wave" thing when I had my Corvettes and about 95% of the time will exchange waves when on my motorcycle regardless if it's a Harley or another brand...I also try to smile at folks.

|JDsDream||I wave in the dark, if I have the top on, I roll down the window and stick my hand out. Sometimes I don't know if they wave back or not but I know that they saw it and that is what counts.|
|10-17-2009 01:25 PM|
|joemd60||So what happens if you see a another Jeep in the dark but cannot see the person, do you still wave?|

Where i live, it seems that the Jeep Waves doesn't exist. There are a lot of YJ who never wave back, and the guys from the Gulf (Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Qatar...) in shiny 4-Doors JK who don't even know what's the Jeep Wave.
I only got 1 Wave in 3 weeks, and my Jeep is lifted, i run everytime with the top down...

|10-16-2009 04:38 PM|

|JDsDream||Along with spreading the word about the Jeep wave to other Jeep owners, it also needs to be explained to passengers (girl friends). I usually get returned waves from the drivers I wave at and dirty looks from their female passengers. So guys do yourselves a favor and explain the wave before you end up having to explain that you don't know the blonde in the Jeep that just waved at you. BTW, I had a JK owner initiate the wave today. They usually wave back, but this is the first one to initiate the wave.|

The best wave I got was in my LJ just a week into ownership. I was going back to work from lunch and this older guy walking his dog (60's I would guess) waved to me as I drove by and I waved back. I knew for a fact it was because he must own a Jeep.
I still wave no matter what. If they look at me like I'm crazy, I just smile right back. Maybe they will get curious to the point of using Google to find out why other Jeep owners are waving at them. Then MAYBE, they will jump on the trend.
What is the world coming to anyways where you can't even get a simple nice wave from another person? Are people really getting that ignorant?

|surfnc25||i agree just this past Saturday I was heading to the beach with my wife in the jeep and these 2 guys pulled right up beside us in a jeep and not even a nod. I always try to wave at jeepers heading down the road, I think it's pretty cool to have people waving just because you have a jeep. I don't get waves from other Honda Accord drivers when I drive my Honda Accord, haha. So keep the jeep wave ALIVE just like the motorcycles do.|
