how do you plan on using your jeep. if you plan on wheeling it thn here is my suggestion. take your stock muffler off and have a smaller muffler put in front of the rear axle and then have a custom tailpipe run out the back of the jeep. the stock muffler is in a very vulnerable spot and with the added length of the JK its only a matter of time before it gets smashed on something. I was wheeling on some very tame trails that were essentially logging roads with a guy in a 07 JKu RUBI with a mild 2.5" lift and stock tires. he came off a small rock and smashed the muffler up into the bottom of the tub. for the rest of the day you knew exactly where his jeep was as long as it was running because the muffler was vibrating against the tub and was very annoying.
plus as an added benefit it opens up a lot of extra room under the back of the jeep by ditching the stock muffler

|dan243||i have a k and n 77 series cold air intake and a borla cat back dual on my jeep. It was a major difference of power. When on the open road you will use 6 gear and still be able to go up inclines with out shifting back to 5th. Throttle response and fuel economy are much improved also. I am satisfied with my jeep and it sounds alot better.|

Well, I went ahead and had the Banks Cat-Back Exhaust installed (Should have done it myself / Super simple). The Banks Cold Air Intake and Poweraid throttle body spacer made a BIG differance - Low and Mid-range were greatly inproved with no more "turbo-lag." The Banks Cat-Back Exhaust resulted in a mild improvement in mid and high end RPM's. Both mods resulted in lots of nice sounds. Definately do the front end and leave the Cat-Back for later if $ are scarce.

|RaiderRUBICON||Interesting posts about exhaust,I to was considering replacing my stock exhaust with Borla stainless exhaust from Quadratec.Not sure if that is a good Idea. I like sound bigtime!!!BUT If I bring my 202hp to 223hp,I will not be able to tell the difference from a performance perspective.15 or 20 hp does not make a difference on a 4000lb SUV, so its for the sound and the dual exhaust "look". To see a real difference in performance on a jeep you would have to bring it up to about 250hp.The problem is ,Jeeps weren't made for that,tipping over would probably become an issue again (not offroad) but in the suburbs.So if your going to do anything on exhaust , do it for the sound and the dual "look".|

this is just the tread i found it in. no i dont know the dyno operator personaly and take him out to beers im just not the cynic who thinks everyone is always out to lie to everyone else. i wish i had the dyno charts to but beggers cant be choosers so if you dont believe find proof of it being different cause all i hear is this is bad info worthless whatever but no one here has the dyno chart to prove otherwise. so i want to be proved wrong but untill i am im goin with what i got.

|thaduke2003||Hah. Agreed fully. Dyno's are as only as honest as the operator wants them to be. Take this from a former dyno tech at a less-than-reputable shop! You can mess with correction factors, weather data, and all kinds of inputs to change the output you get to show what you want- Mark W.|

|jwm1986||Since it is not really a performance vehicle in the first place, and the pipes are all fairly new anyway, IMO I would just slap a new muffler in and call it good. If you want sound anyhow, if it's power, then by all means, do whatever you feel will help.|

^^^ There are a few problems with post such as this:
Who, what, when , where, how were the dynos run. There needs to be more than just word of mouth, otherwise the "data" is worthless. The dyno operators reputation is definitely a critical aspect to the results. Posting of the actual dyno charts/graphs would be helpful.
Consider how easy it would be to post such results in hopes of improving sales. Not to bash needlessly but the truth be told.

"Test and configurations were made to a 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4D Rubicon..
1st. Dyno run
Bone Stock = 180.7hp / 215.8tq
First we installed a Magna Flow True Dual Exhaust system keeping the stock catalytic converts in place..
2nd. Dyno run
Dual Exhaust System = 189.6hp / 222.5tq
Then we removed the dual system and re-installed the 2 into 1 collector and just ran a single back to a Magna Flow 6” x 18” muffler and then straight back..
3rd. Dyno run
Single Exhaust System = 194.3hp / 231.3tq
Obviously the Single System yielded much better results.. That is what stayed on.. And let me tell you the Sound is awesome..
Now the easy stuff AEM Brute Force Intake System.. Very Clean install..
4th. Dyno run
Single Exhaust System with AEM intake = 202.1hp / 234.6tq
Last but not least.. We installed the Jet Performance Stage II chip.. My initial thought process on this one was I wasted my money.. But the Dyno tell the truth..
5th Dyno run
Single Exhaust with AEM intake and Jet Performance Stage II chip
Final Results = 213.9hp / 243.3tq
Overall Gains = 33.2 HP / 27.5 TQ"

^ Cons, his is a JK, not a TJ.
It won't "decrease your power." What the idiots at your local parts store (IDIOTS- never get automotive advice from a parts guy- get it from SERVICE people who actually are required to know what they're talking about) mean is that if you reduce backpressure, you may (and in this case, WILL) lose low-end torque. You will gain HORSEPOWER in exchange, but in a Wrangler, that's not necessarily a good thing.
Don't bother- save the $. Your gains will be useless 95% of the time (only in passing maneuvers will you REALLY see a difference- the rest is simply perceived), and the cost is NOT worth the minimal benefit you'll see on the JK.
Lord knows we need more power, but not if it requires sacrificing torque- Mark W.

|Cons_Table||I added the cat back monster exhaust. i noticed a better throttle response and a little more power. I'm not sure why it would decrease power since u are creating less restriction the exhaust. maybe someone else has more input on this...|

Cat-Back Exhaust: Yes or No?
After adding a Banks Cold Air Intake, I've been considering a Cat-back exhaust. But, my local pasts store says "No, it will decrease your power." Does anyone have experiance with this?
