Need help doing a build up on my 2004 Wrangler X
Hello fellow jeepsters. I'm a newbie to the site and trying to get some help with certain area's of builing my 04 Wrangle X. It's a 6 banger with 5 speed manual shift. I want to run 33X12.50 tires with 4" lift and figure to keep the stock power and speed that I need to change the gearing. I drive mostly on pavement so I'm really building a jeep that's more show than go but I do take it off road during hunting season so I need it a little beefy so that I don't break something going mild off road, I don't expect to be doing any rock crawing or other destructive activities.
The help I'm looking for knowledge on changing ring and pinion gears. I would like to do this myself but I'm not sure about how hard it is to do and to do it right? I have heard from several folks that that when you change gears you will have noise from the gears. Is this true? Should changing ring and pinion be left to the professionals? Thanks for the help!
