Leather is no problem

I thought about that as well, leather or not, but I opted for leather because I just simply like them. Simple solution for me: summertime = soft top and waterproof seat covers; wintertime = hardtop and those covers come off. Also, put them on when I take our Lab along.

You sound like a DIYer,

In that case, Might I suggest you raise a cow, slaughter, and tan the hide yourself. That's the real definition of built.

On the other hand, that real leather might dry and crack in Texas, so you might raise a tiny herd of Naugas instead.

ben04 If you want something truly weather proof, then I recommend you hire an upholsterer to outfit your seats with a quality vinyl. I ran my CJ7 this way and had no complaints at all. Leather will breathe whereas vinyl will not, but if durability and ease of cleaning are your priorities then vinyl seems like a perfect solution.

Crush21 I don't think you can get a sport with leather??? Unless its a dealer installed option, I don't think you can order leather from the factory on sports....???

Info on Leather on 2014 JKU

After a long, drawn-out decision to get the JKU Sport S instead of the Rubicon, I now need to decide what options to outfit it with. But one thing trips me up: leather; yay or nay.
I'd really like leather, but in a car I'd love to take the top off of and get down and dirty, I have to know..... Is the leather as weather proof as the normal fabric in the Sport S? Can I hose it down when I wash the interior? Does it come weather-proofed from the factory? Otherwise I'll just get leatherette.
I will be custom ordering it about Early-mid Nov. such that I can have it just before New Years. (I heard people get better deals on custom orders than ones on a lot. I want 2% under invoice and won't settle for anything more).
I opted for the Sport because I think jeeps are built and not bought. And frankly a rubicon is too expensive to buy and build.. And I would hate to be the loser driving a stock wrangler rubicon if I can avoid it (don't mean to offend anyone that leaves there JKUR stock but... in Texas, no one has a stock wrangler, it's practically blasphemy).
