Gunz n tractorz Got it done waiting on rear driveshaft, but she moves with the sole use of front wheel drive so I guess that I did something right. Thanks for all of your help.

sfhusser Don't do what I did: take the xfer case apart, clean, install new shift, reassemble case, admire job well done, then:
Look down on bench to see the shift fork spring was not reinstalled.

Gunz n tractorz How did you all get the top nut off of the t case to finally bring it down? I have a manual and have taken the interior plate that covers the front of the t case up but still just can't get a 9/16 onto the nut. Just wondering how all of the fellow keepers did it.

Gunz n tractorz thank you all so much for the help. I have the skid plate off and drive shafts removed. I'm just working on it a few hours in the afternoon when I can between high school and work I've only got to fiddle with it one night so far but it's no huge rush although I do miss it. Thank you Remeir.

Nug Wrangler Yea there is a bearing on the shaft I believe you need to remove.

kjg26 My AA instructions mention having to press off some bearing. Is this true?

rmeier I just installed my SYE kit about a month ago. It was actually rather easy and I didn't have to cut anything. Revove the shafts, drain the transfer case, and then take it apart. I would make sure you can remove the bolt where you fill it, then remove the drain bolt. After that take it apart, put in your new kit, and seal it up. Let the seal dry for a day before you fill it. I had enough room under my jeep so I just removed the back half. You will also have to remove the front drive shaft and the yoke on the front of the transfer case. The snap rings are a pain, but spend the money on the better snap ring tool. It should take about 2 1/2 quarts of fluid. I just filled it until a little leaked out.

It varies on the t case you have. I think 91. Or 92 on up its not necessary .
It's should help you identify your shift rail in the instructions.

Nug Wrangler Make sure the first thing you do before removing the t-case is putting that baby in 4low. In some cases with the np 231 you may have to cut the shift rail. Sounds like a nightmare but its actually very simple. It will say in your instructions as far as length goes for the shift rail. Have fun buddy

jokerchief462 Yes undo and remove the case. It is quick and easy watch the video. If you stay installed it is a bitch putting the output shaft back in and keeping everything else aligned.

Gunz n tractorz Where do I fill it back up with fluid and how much do I put in it? Also do I have to undo the shifter linkage that goes through the floor?

reno92 Yes, you're going to have yo drain it anyway, makes it a few pounds lighter.

distortedtj If you have the room. It is faster to just pull the rear half off and do it under the jeep.

Other than that, not really. Pretty simple install, just follow the instructions from AA.
