for sure, thats how i did mine so i could afford it. 200ish for the steal pre bent and cut and i welded it up.

|beardown||true... if you need steel fenders then it may be worth it. would still be cheaper if you did it yourself with steel and self welded-- that is... if youd prefer steel fenders over alum- its always fun to have a project though!!!!!!!! btw rawkon, hows the wheelin out there near big bear? decent stuff?|

|beardown||i may have to check out an opener!!... and yes some companies sell similar setups for hundreds of dollars which is rediculous.. i did mine over a few weeks time, i was in no hurry,and pretty much just went for it. wouldve been smart to plan more but it turned out ok; once u grind theres no fixing it.... f it its a jeep- ha|

Very cool, I did this to my hood about a year ago.
I used duct work sheet metal & pop rivets instead of cutting up my fenders though.
I like the JB-weld idea, as I used some aluminum muffler tape to cover the sharp edge.

flat fender job
so i recently decided to chop off my fenders. I used an angle grinder that i picked up at harbor freight for 17.99 that cut through the fender a lot easier thn i anticipated with a metal cutoff wheel that i got for 1.89 at home depot. After i cut off and rounded the fenders i was to attach 3/4 inch conduit to the underside. I bent the conduit to 90 degrees with a conduit bender that i returned after i used cause i would never use it again. I had a few options as to how i was going to attach the conduit to the fender... i decided to go with j b weld and am happy i did. The stuff is really strong and since the conduit to fender isnt structural i figured it was worth not welding... NOTE- when angle grinding make sure you cover the underside of the jeep where there are exposed brake lines and such, and cover eyes legs and hands... the metal shards shoot off live mini bullets and dont feel too good... ok so when the conduit was shaped to my liking it was time to j b weld them on, as shown in the pic i used c clamps which were a pain in my ass cause the conduit is obviously round- i kind of fixed this problem by using pieces of cardboard to absorb c clamp pressure... when dry i grinded down some excess j b weld but not too much... when all conduit was on i filled any gaps with hardening putty from home depot, i then smoothed out with grinder and sandpaper... last thing was to primer, i used regular rustoleum primer, thats it i think
