|catsknr||Jerry, have you even READ the owners manual for his year Jeep? It states "Do not use a dolly" that means either flat tow or all 4 up, but if you do tow with a dolly you will have to disco the rear drive shaft.|

The rear driveshaft had to be pulled for CJs that had the Dana 300 transfer case for towing because it couldn't oil itself without the splasher paddle modification but that's not the case with the TJ.
There is NO (!!!) need to pull either driveshaft with a TJ. Absolutely not, none, nada.

If I stopped for the night I could unhitch the Jeep in 30 seconds and bungee the tow bar vertical for short trips. The only problem was, nobody made bolt on tow brackets for a '02 Wrangler at the time, I had to make my own. Picture shows the brackets. I romoved the bumper and welded 1/2" steel plate to the ends of the frame and that is what the brackets are bolted too.
You do not have to remove the drive shaft, transfer case in neutral and go with it. One reason RVers like Jeeps, they don't rack up tow milage on the odometer.

|schnutzy||id say disconnect the drive shaft, seems like its alot safer that way. seems like leaving the tranny in gear could risk starting the jeep while ur towing it, kinda like hill starting a car.|

|350chevrolet||your putting it on a dolly meaning front wheels off the ground rear wheels on correct? if so you MUST pull the rear shaft, that goes for any 4x4. you will not leak fluid when you pull the shaft because the slip yolk is external of the transfer case. you can even still drive the jeep in 4hi with the rear shaft removed. with the shaft out it doesnt matter what gear the trans and transfer case are in while towing just make sure the e-brake is off. i dont remember if you lock or unlock the steering when using a dolly, been a while but im sure someone else knows|

|Jerry Bransford||Shift the transfer case into Neutral and be sure to put the transmission IN gear. Having the transmission in any forward gear while towing will do, you want to prevent it from turning while towing since it doesn't get any lubrication while flat towing. Tranny IN gear, t-case in Neutral. Unlock the ignition too to allow the front wheels to turn to follow the tow vehicle.|

Towing a TJ from florida to Tucson
So I am towing my TJ from Florida to Tucson AZ on a dolley. Because its the cheapest way. The question is do I need to pull the Drive shafts or cant I just put the T-case in neutral and the 6 speed in Neutral and be good? And if I have to pull the shafts will I leak fluid from here to Tucson?
