I suppose it is the Trac-Loc that I was referring to. I have been told that there is a marker saying to use different type of lubricant in the axle thanks to the Limited slip.
I take it the Trac Loc diff doesn't make a difference or is it just a POS?

stick or auto is fine
Dana 44 rear is good. Has metal drain plug vs plastic one for dana 35
some Non rubicion versions did come with a lsd...trac-lock..worthless really.

I may be wrong, but I think the only current wrangler with any special diff is the Rubicon edition, which has locking differentials. I believe the sport and standard wrangler come with your 'normal' diff, where all the torque goes to the wheel that is spinning.
Having said that, you can add a locking differential to either axle for anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, depending what you want.

Dream come true!
I am about to buy my first Jeep! I have wanted a CJ7 since I was a child but as I have aged I have watched the Wrangler mature too.
I have a question though, I know that the there are three things that I need in a Wrangler... I need a Standard Tranny, a 4.0 I6 and a limited slip diff. I also know that there is a badge on the "pineapple" at the 1 o'clock position if it has one and that there should be a badge in the glove box too, theoretically.
If I can't find the limited slip, how much of a difference does it make?
Sorry for the ignorance on these options, but I have been working on Camaros and Pontiacs my whole life thanks to the Dad, this is the first time I get to go off road!
Thanks for any help you can give, it will make my search much easier. I start looking on Saturday!
