snwchris Get one with the 4.0 trust me... I had both the 4cyl & a 6cyl...
Highway driving is much nicer with the 6cyl.

Like mentioned look for one with Dana44 rear. i believe most of the Sahara models offerend the D44 as the rear and w/ 3.73 gears.

Hickoryhouse easy! thanks and 33's is what I want to put on it so knowing a 35 will work with them is good to know.

Jeepzcb09 look at the rear differental and a D44 has a metal fill plug and a D35 has a plastic, I personally have the D35 with 33's and it does fine on and offroad(its my DD)

Hickoryhouse It is going to be a daily driver, so 4.0 sounds pretty important although not required. It is good to hear that the 4 banger isn't bad though. I am going shoppin gin Dallas tomorrow and hopefully I will be able to find what I am looking for. I would love to find one with the right Dana axles but I don't know what those look like to be honest...

4Jeepn If it was going to have it as my daily driver, 4.0L even with high miles.. I like to have power for getting on highway, hills etc. If it was going to be a 3rd auto, and for weekend driving or trail rides, the right deal on a 4cly would be fine.

mjp75jazz we love our se too. we had an 05 with the 4.0 & it is a lot better, stonger, faster etc etc. but since ours isn't our DD we don't really miss the 4.0 at all. we're closing in on 140k miles & (knock on wood) no problems!

mrcarcrazy Dana 44 Rear end, if you think there's any remote possibility of larger tires later on.

Jeepzcb09 I would get one with a 4.0 if ypou plan on any highway driving and not to mention the 4.0 is a better, more powerful, and longer lasting engine.

csamn2007 I love my SE, wish i would have spent 5k more and just got the rubi though. The 4 banger really isnt that bad just under powered. I would also check the gearing before buying an SE.

Buying used....

SE vs. everything else...

Other tan the 4 banger problem, as far as everything else is concerned what is the thing to look for? Prices are much better on a SE than anything else and low miles too... Makes for an attractive proposition but it doesn't sound like as much fun... Are they as much fun to work on and on road performance has to suffer but how bad?

Thoughts?
