|ekytrader||All I know is if your gonna have any power and MPG you have to get rid of the stock 4-6 cylinder engines. The will run forever but they suck...|

|uplifted||I squashed my ford 302 in favor of a GM zz4 crate engine... backing it up with a 700r4 and adapting to my 231 transfercase....i have the 8.8 rear ready to go in as well..|

get the motor tranny and transfercase all ready to go first. then set it in build your mounts (lot cheper than buying) Set it in bolt everything up and your almost done.
(decide if you want elec or motor mounted fan).
need a shifter
a different rear end (i put an 8.8 bolted right in $125)
need driveshafts I know a cheap reliable driveshaft answer
everything else bolts right in ex: powersteering, power brakes etc..
its a lot of work.
if i was going to do it all over againg i would have rebuilt my 6 cyl to reach higher horsepower and rpm's..

|yj-genral||to put the 289 or 302 in you would of course need all the computer stuff with it, those are EFI right? other than that you would need a different tranny, even if AA made a conversion i wouldnt put even an ax15 behind it, need something heavy duty to hold up to the HP. then depending on what tranny... you might need a new t-case but depending on what you end up with you might be able to adapt to it...|

|ekytrader||Does anyone know if there is plates and such out there that will allow you to just drop a 289 in and just go without changing a whole bunch of stuff?|

|ekytrader||I have an awesome 289 that I would like to stick down in mine. Get all the HP a person would ever want and great MPG also.|

|uplifted||As i'm learning from research, if your going to do a v8 swap, use a chevy SB.... there's not a whole hell of alot of options when using a ford and the market is very small.... PM me if your serious though.. I have done extensive research in the last few weeks and can pass along what i have found..|

|southernculture||look on advance adaptors for an adaptor plate and fnd some motor mounts. If it is carbd should be straight foreward. I think that u should do some research on it before u just jump in tho.|

Is it easy to convert a YJ over to a V8
I have a 94 Jeep Wrangler and it has absolutely no power and only gets about 9 MPG or so. Is it possible to convert it over to say a 302 oe a 289 that I have in the garage. I would have all the power I would need and get great MPG.
