adawg38 I had a 36 tooth gear with my stock 3.73 gears and 215/75r15 tires.

glock22ed I'll give that a try. Has anyone else taken out factory speedo with 3.73 and how many tooths was it. Speedo chart lists 36 with 33's and 4.11 and 36's and 4.56

nicolas-eric Are you sure you have 3.73 gears?
Go under the TJ and watch how often the DS rotates while a friend pushes it forwards for exactly one tire turn.

36 tooths should be ok with 3.73 and the stock small 225/75R15 tires. With 33s and 3.73 gears 32 tooths would be ok.

36 tooth speedo gear ?

[B] I changed speedo gear out when I upgraded to 33's. 3.73 gears. The one I pulled out was a 36. I bought the jeep used and can't figure why the 36 speedo is in there. I would have thought if previous owner changed gears a new tag would have been put on Diff's. Any thoughts?
