|Jerry Bransford||The bushings in the OE control arms are a royal PITA to remove, they're not like a bushing in a trackbar etc. which aren't too hard to remove/replace. When my old 4WP shop had to remove one, they seemed to need to use a torch on it to get it out.|

|nicolas-eric||If shipping from Germany to the US wouldn´t be that expensive you could have a CA with good bushings for free. I still have the stock CAs from 2 TJs and 1 ZJ in my garage.|

|Ironman||I would also do it at home. I happen to have a press, but a vice does work fine. One method I use to align the bolt holes for the control arms is to jack the pumkin up in either the front or back to tilt it in the direction you need it to go. If you do one arm at a time, the hole shouldn't be that far off.|

You can press it out with a bench wise. On one side of the CA you put a nut that's smaller than the bushing and on the other side you put a nut that's bigger than the bushing.
It only takes some minutes.
And yes you can remove one CA when the Jeep is on ground. When the holes in the CA mount and in the CA are a bit off you can fix that with a lashing strap.

Control arm bushing!
on my 2000 tj my dana 30 top control arm bushing broke and is making a loud clank every time i make a turn or accelerate. can i just change it out while its flat on the ground and just unbolt the upper arm? or is there more required?
