|baja||It is your cash till you buy it,offer him a lower price and go from there.Driving it is crucial,thats not many miles for that year and it is a good starter for a durable jeep.Question is,how mechanically inclined do you want to become?8 in?Don't believe so.You seem to be needing a dd look for something alittle more stock and go up from there,that's the fun part of jeep ownership anyways.Happy huntin!|

After telling her that the deal was off, she did say that the gears are properly adjusted for the wheels, but I'm still thinking a possibly made the right choice

it was tough, but I turned it down after everyone's comments (appreciate it ). I wasn't sure about it having a dana 44 rear, as well as the gears being upgraded. But with those mud tires (worn, I didn't even realize that!) and the lift, I don't think it's going to serve my purpose. I STILL want a wrangler! But, I don't think this is gonna be it!
... I'm still pretty sad to give it up

|4Jeepn||lifts is too big, tires to big for everyday driver... fender minor deal... Does it have a dana 44 rear? If not walk away... Lockers? gear change?|

It looks like a 4" suspension lift and a 2" body lift, together equaling 8" of total lift. If it truly has a 8" suspension lift its not going to be a good commuter on the highway. The tires need to be replaced and that tire is terrible on a daily driver. The fender is replaceable.
I think if it had been used hard those plastic side steps would have been torn off. Take a good look at the under side for damage and worn parts.

|Schmo||I'd be less concerned about the accident and more concerned about the tires and lift and what all has been done to it. How big are the tires where a 8" suspension and 1" body lift are needed? What axles are in it and what is the gearing? Has this thing been taken off road much? You mention that you need to do highway driving, depending on the gears, getting to normal highway speeds and getting over 10 MPG might be difficult.|

|Cons_Table||the tires look to be pretty worn judging from the picture. plus with that size of a tire you want to consider the gearing. if the gears havent been changed with the upgraded tires, the jeep will be a dog|

Is It A Good Buy? Or am I Being Ripped! 2000 Jeep

I've been talking to this craigslist seller about a 2000 Jeep Wrangler. I've gotten her down to $7000, before I realized the accident problem - and I'm going tonight to go buy it. Haven't made any official commitment, so I need some input before going for it.
2000 Jeep Wrangler
8-inch suspension life
1-inch body lift
6-cyl w/ manual transmission
Comes with Hardtop and a softop (huge + for me)
Now, I'd be drooling already... but there's bad news. Carfax reports an accident back in 2004, no frame damage I don't believe, but the seller says that the accident just messed up the driver side fender (I can fix). It doesn't look too bad to me, really just surface and some dents. But given the obvious off-road nature of the car, would you still consider this a good buy? What problems do I need to look out far, and as well, am I getting ripped off on the price? Also, I still do a lot of on-road highway driving back and forth about once a month (100 miles). I know the tires are uncomfortable, but would it be considered ridiculous to consider this a driver like that.
I really appreciate it, and once I get this jeep I'll be here all the time :wave:
