Gosh, there are lots of places with dirt roads and creeks/ponds down here in SE Iowa, mabe just poke around a bit. I find the Gazzateer of Iowa a nice tool and there is a sportsmans guide to places in Iowa as well.
My family has quite a bit of land, so I am a bit spoiled, but there are some neat public places with primitive roads. In the winter I enjoy the state forest areas for snow Jeeping and X-country skiing.

|roadsuk||Yep, you are pretty well screwed fior that type of thing! Saylorville Lake is a good place to take a Lab (that's where I take mine occasionally) I don't know where you are but if you venture up around the Kate Shelley Bridge outside of Boone there is a little area by the river below a wooden bridge you drive over that looks like people drive to. Nothing crazy but it is a good area to take the puppy and hike around. I haven't been that way for a while and they were making a new train bridge so the area might be tough to get too? Other than that, you could just start driving the backroads and see what there is around, I do that with my pup and you get to see alot of the places you didn't even know where there. If you do find a good place post up and good luck!|

Place to jeep and take dog
I'm not looking to climb boulders or anything, but is there anywhere around demo to take the labs for a swim, hang out with the wife, etc, that's remotely non-pavement? We got to Saylorville currently and hang out along the lake/sand areas, but everything appears to be closed off of course. Sucks to own a Jeep in Iowa I guess.
