I tried that on mine and it seemed to put the shift collar too far off of center so I picked up a spring from the hardware store and installed it on the shaft and put it back in the collar when I bolted it to the axle. Works great.

cheapjeep71 If your fork is still alright; you can just push the collar into the engaged position then put the fork on the outside of the collar keeping it in the engaged position. A friend of mine with a 94 did this & seemed to work.

Also some one said they use zip ties? any one no how that works

I don't want to spend another 50 bucks for it to break again.

Also does any one no why these break so easy I always let it engage before moving so I don't get it

I also want to do this as cheap as possible any helpful tricks will be awesome

I hate my yj today

So a few months ago I replaced the fork in the front diff. and went out today and was wheeling had it engaged for awhile pulled into the hole and wasn't even hitting the skinny pedal and I hear a clunk guess what no more 4x4 so looks like I'm going to do a better setup for the 4x4 rant well I did go threw a lot of mud first so it wasn't that bad
