Hey thanks! Yeah I don't off road much. Its more of a daily commuter for me. So I don't know how well it would hold up off road. I think it would do ok. Once I take it off road I'll let you know.

adkjoe wow that's nice, maybe I'll give it a shot it can't hurt. Is that paint you can get at autozone or somewhere? If I don't like it I'll just go buy some black steel wheels.

mudslinger150 adkjoe, i did this to my nissan hardbody. I used SEM flexable paint in Landau black, i applied about 3 coats and that truck is always stuck someplace, paint has never chipped and its almost 2 years later.

Jeepczb09 - you really want to use a paint for plastic, it's only a couple bucks at any auto store, but yes it is gloss black.

Jeepzcb09 Hey looks great! Ive been wainting to do this on mine but all i have is Rust-o-lium gloss black, would this work?
11-03-2009 12:28 PM
joemd60 Mine held up pretty good, I just sanded them and put about 4 coats of paint on them. It was a hot summer day so I let them bake in the sun between coats, so I think that helped and I used krylon fusion to, only flat black. I eventually want to do the parking lenses and reflectors.

Probably not a bad idea but that chrome is so thin you probably wouldn't even notice the peeled spots but I see what your saying...

I would just hit it with some scotch brite and get all the loose flaky chrome off and then just spray over it. Don't use sandpaper the plastic is really soft and it will look like crap. I used krylon fusion gloss black. I wouldn't worry about getting all the chrome off just the loose stuff that's peeling.

mrcarcrazy to those who've painted the bezels. Some of my "chrome" is peeling off. Should I remove all the chrome and then use a product like Krylon fusion? or is there a better way?

adkjoe Did you rattle can the rims? What did you use?
11-03-2009 08:12 AM
jcjdesco Yeah I don't like the chrome much either. The first thing I did was paint the headlight bezels. Then I went for the wheels. I found some used grill inserts that were chrome and I painted those as well.
11-03-2009 06:32 AM
adkjoe whats left? the caps on your wheels?
11-02-2009 03:23 PM
Yaezu Me too! I'm 99.9% done...
11-02-2009 12:07 PM
adkjoe Thanks, it looks so much better now.

I used krylon fusion in gloss black, sure beats $25 for blacked out ones from quadratec.
11-02-2009 10:41 AM
Beast Skills yeah i still have all of my chrome right now. i'm thinking about statrting to paint some of it here and there.
11-02-2009 09:03 AM
specbill Looking good....'like the no chrome look on some TJ's but can also get behind those with some as well....it all depends on how the whole package is put together....
11-02-2009 09:00 AM
burton160w I like it a lot. I'm going to be taking all the chrome off my car (tube bumpers, light bezels, etc.) and be doing the same thing this weekend. Looks really good though.
