Thanks Neil! I'm still learning, appreciate it.

sladeb i replaced the front turn and side marker lights with leds, as indicated the turn signals flashed very fast but one other thing happened, the side marker lights would light up with the headlight but wouldn't flash with the turns, I could turn them 180 degrees and they would flash but not light up with the headlights. is this a characteristic of the flasher needing to be replaced? I also noticed as I was putting the stock bulbs back in, the side marker light was very dim until I changed the front turn signal back to the old bulb, looks like to me there is not enough current to make the leds work.
any thoughts?

Hardermods If you have a 2001 or newer the scalpel mod won't work. You have to solder in a relay

Shark_13 Yes, the mod works well, I did the same when upgrading rear LED taillights.

GingerTJ You can modify the stock one with a scalpel. Took 5 min and saved me 20 dollars.. Google it for a picture of how..

RnEmOvr Some years you can modify the OEM flasher for free.

Neil F. Stock automobile reverse lights are not meant to illuminate for vision. They are simply to notify others that you are backing up. Putting leds in the stock housing is not going to throw off much light.

Verf Since its brought up, I want to replace my reverse (back up) lights with LED's until such time I can afford trail lights on the back end. Any suggestions? I know we have a new vendor, but their site is a bit confusing. To me anyway. Both my soft and hard top windows are tinted and I have a sidewalk I have to back across to get to the street and I don't want to hurt anyone.

Thanks in advance!

Neil F. Like said above, yes

Dougzin Yes you do. I just changed the bulbs and they were flashing fast. But with a new flasher works like a charm.

I've searched around but can't find a definate answer. Do you need to replace the flasher if you change the front turn, side marker, and tail lights with led bulbs? I know you do if you change to the prefab led tail lights.
