scj64 It's just a toy for my wife and I to run around in on the weekend and go play off-road some. Plus I have some property I like to mess around on as well.

With the cost of the Polaris Rangers now. I'd rather have this and get it up high enough to keep it out of the lower brush, stumps and rocks and not have to haul a toy to an off-road event.

Really wanting 37's but then I'll have to regear as it has to maintain performance on the road.

That's a tall lift for a light 2 door. Can I ask why you chose 3.5" ? You'll be able to correct pinion angles with the control arms. Front will be a safe balance between caster and pinion angle. Most people set for 4* caster to start. The rear, you want the pinion a couple degrees lower than the driveshaft. Sooner or later you will need driveshafts both front and back. You don't have to rush out and buy them. Just jeep a close eye on the yokes connected to the TC for grease splatter or ticking noises.

Nice choice in kit BTW. I'm too cheap and still piecing it all together. Usually leading to more $$ spend in the long haul

scj64 I ordered MetalCloak kit yesterday. Is there a preferred steering stabilizer needed with the 35's I'm going to run? I read in another post I may need to look at the driveshaft?

Did the tech try moving the tires around ?
Does it happen on all roads at 40mph ?
I know we have a stretch of road that vibrates the jeep. When I drive my van, the vibration is a lot faster/tighter because the tires are smaller.

You can try moving the tires front to rear.
Don't do both at the same time. Do one side, drive it and see if the pulse goes away. If it does you know THAT tire or wheel still has a issue.
If it's a consistent pulse .. I can almost guarantee it's a balance issue, or maybe even the road. I've had plenty of dealings with tire shops that don't seem to care.


Fyi, a steering stabilizer will help tighten things up but it won't fix a tire balance issue

Ndig29 Okay kjeeper.. Got an alignment done, tires rebalanced (first time shop did it with center rings still in wheels), and got the wheel spacers today. Now I have a MUCH improved ride but there is still certain roads that cause my steering wheel to pulsate right around 40mph. Some roads I am fine when I am moving at 60mph. So what would an aftermarket steering stabilizer do? And is there anything else I can do to fix this problem?

Ok just so I know I got this right so far I'm going to get :

cut the fenders- free
Teraflex 2.5" lift kit no shocks - $480
Ranchos 9000xl shocks. $320 - $80 rebate = $240 (29xl front and 30xl rear)
Ranchos lower control arm brackets - $120
Synergy drop bracket kit - $65

Its a very small window that we have to order parts and not suffer their wrath!!! It moves around and depends on how "nice" you have been. The key is to time the ups visit at the apex of the "window"!!!! :-)

Ok I'll get it. So I'm going to try and cut the flares and I will purchase the Rancho's and a 2.5 lift is that all I will need to complete this mod ? And also what kind of lift brand or kit do you recommend I get? I know I'm being a pain but I really have no one else to ask and trust on this. Lol

You're in jersey, plenty of folks around that can give you a hand with install.

You can use the stock wheels, but you will need wheel spacers. Some shops won't mount a 12.5 width tire on a 7.5 wheel. Worth a mention
Wheel size, that's your choice. Tires for 15" tend to be less expensive. Take that money saved and buy new alloy wheels. Id go 15's or 17's. There's crap as far as tire options for 16's and most come in load range E.

ak4marsx I think people do 35s on stock. Believe you need wheel offset adapters ($150-250 for two pairs)

Was looking at the bushwacker flat style fenders. I wish I could trim mine but I'm so scared I'm going to mess them up and wast time doing it. I'm willing to spend 1k for the lift and install if possible if not I could spend more. Also can I use stock rims with 35" until I save up for new rims and what size should I go with the rims ?
