TXST8tj i would just do 33s and call it a day. you will regret 31s. no need to lift a jeep 3 full inches and only go up 1/2" in tire height. you end up with a jeep that has a high center of gravity without a taller and wider tire to balance it all out.
as far as cost of the BFG AT goes, here are some tirerack.com figures (just so you see that shouldn't be the selling point...if it comes down to that):
31x10.50 = $127
32x11.50 = $127
33x10.50 = $135
33x12.50 = $139

hardly a cost difference between a 31 and a 33, but totally worth it in the end.
i run a 33x12.50 with 3" of lift and i wouldn't have it any other way with that amount of lift.

as for the BFG tires, i've run the AT and currently the MT, and have loved them both. the AT was great for everyday road use and occasional light wheeling, but the MT is an all business tire. decent road manners, great off road abilities.

Kodak rock

this is why i recently blew up the tranny ... there is about 30" of air under the driver front tire

random hill climb

Daniel's Ledge: (rear is fully stuffed, barely makes contact with the fender flare)

at camp, for reference i am 5'9"

ill see if i can get some pics over the next few days of it sitting in a parking lot so you can see the stance ... low and wide ... i love it.

i sure have heard a bunch of good reviews about them. NOT! see, noises aren't a disadvantage of a lift. you shouldn't have them. glad everythings good.

i did a better job on my lift then they could. they'd probably put my rear springs up front and put my shocks upside down and then take out the seats because they couldn't disconnect the sway bar.

i crack myself up! i sound like scout now.

if its any consolation, i just blew up the cry-stler 666 (999) tranny last night on a snow run on the local trail. big hill climb + loose dirt + snow + big rocks + heavy right foot = blown up tranny

at least the D35 rear survived

The ATs are great all around tire. I used to run them. Now I run the mudders, and they are sweet too, but if u don't need them, go with the ATs with confidence.

Do you have a 6 speed? If so you should be good with the 33's. If auto, I would go with 32's or be willing to re-gear within a year, cuz it's gonna bug you.
01-22-2007 05:06 PM
JeepGuyLJ Yeah i know. Its a good thing 4xdoctor found what it was and fix it for free too those guys are great.

AzTJ wow - luckly nothing serious happened while driving it

Mike001 I have 33's and I have no problems and my gears are 3.07's, but I also got a 6 speed so that 1st gear is like a granny low.

i enjoy my mud terrains. they are wearing super well and should last a while and they do great on the road while still doing awesome offroad.

AzTJ It all depends on what kind of trails/terrain he takes. If he goes on roacky roads more I'd go for the A/T's... more mud, then the M/T's. The A/T's on my Xj have worn awsomely, and do what I ask of them on medium difficulty trails. YOu might loose a few more pieces of tread/lugs with M/T's than an A/T.
01-22-2007 01:16 AM
Steve97TJ Bfg all terrains are good and all but i wish i would have gone with a mud terrain tire. With proper rotation you can get just as much life at some times.
01-21-2007 11:49 PM
Unlimited I have an LJ with an Automatic like yours. I run 33's with the stock gears and have no problems on the freeway. If you are worried, go with the 32's.

Triple88a Boggers i wonder if he will like them

you should have 3.73's so you should be perfectly fine. if he says no then do like AZTJ said and compromize with 32's.

what brand tires are you thinkin about?
01-20-2007 11:17 PM
AzTJ comprimise and go 32's

I also think it will look good with 33" by 10.5 at cause the stock ones are a little to small.
noise?? i wouldn't say thats something you have to deal with. your lift shouldn't have any strange noise if its setup properly.

the t-case drop is easy to take off.
