I believe it's called a footman loop

Magnitude-Engineering If you find that your door hinge bushings are in bad shape, I can supply you with a replacement set. You can see them at Magnitude | Products

Door strap loop

Does anyone know the name of the metal loop that holds the strap to the door? I have a 97 Wrangler with full hard doors. It fell off and I have no idea where it is.

MikeMTJ Luckily I got both the doors off. The passenger side gave me the most grief. I had to use a rubber mallet to get it off. The PB blaster worked great. Thanks for the advice guys.

copleydad Pry the door up with a 2x4 or shovel handle. Open the door about 25 or 30 degrees, rest one end on the door sill under the door and lift the other end to lift the door off the hinges. lift as close to the hinge side as possible so you don't tweak the hinge pins.

Once you get them off once, they usually come off easier the next time.

MikeMTJ These things are really really stuck...geeze. I'm going to have to take out the torch tomorrow.

Jeep Guy heating things up with a propane torch always works great for me to and PB blaster. try heating the hinges up.

birdhunter If push comes to shove
you could use a jack and piece
of wood on front part of door
just be carefull not to bend hinge
let it sit overnight

There is a bushing in there that holds it tight

MikeMTJ These hinges won't even budge. I asked if there was something special to do because I was so shocked about how tight they were on there. Weird part is, the rest of my jeep doesn't have a spec of rust on it, because it only has 49k original miles on it. I got kinda lucky though, because an old guy owned it before me. He even under coated it. Anyways, I sprayed PB blaster all over the hinges, so I'm going to let them sit for a few hours and try again.

1992wranglersahara That's the only hardware you need to remove to get the doors off, yes. BUT, if you have rust on the pin or in the hinge, it's gonna take some "persuasion" to get the door off. Soak that area in PB Blast for a while and tap it with a rubber mallet to encourage the PB into there. Move the door in and out as you pull up on it and it should hopefully, slowly work itself out of the hinge.

MikeMTJ Thanks for the info Geoff. I'm having trouble removing my current doors. There is some rust on the hinges, so I'd imagine that's what is giving me grief? You just remove that little nut on both hinges and pull up on the door right?

Geoff@Bestop You can buy striker pins directly from us if you need them. They're not expensive. I can't keep straight the trivia on when they changed the pins.

YJ Full Steel Doors

Hey guys,

Recently, I bought a YJ hard top off of eBay. I went to the guys house to pick it up, and when I arrived he had some full steel YJ doors. He sold it all to me for $650. The doors were in perfect condition (besides from needing washed off). The cranks, latches, glass, and finish were all in perfect condition. I've been reading and I've noticed that they changed something about the striker somewhere along the line. The doors were off of a 1989 wrangler, and mine is a 1995. I know that they door will fit, but am I going to have to modify the striker pin?
