|The Real Tink||2.5 tj, I use low range most of the time but in 2 wheel drive, locked on both ends I only go 4low when the going gets really bad. I can typically follow rigs in 4wd that struggle in 2low.|

I never shift between high and lo when sitting still - just need to be inching along and coasting when you shit so the gears engage and you don't get caught in the land between

|JeepKing410||Ive use 4 HI most of the time but sometimes use 4 LO but does anyone have the issue of shifting out of 4LO on the JK's? I have and 07 JKU. It sometimes sticks in 4 LO and I have to get out the jeep and push the Jeep (in neutral of course) a little and then try and pull it out of 4 LO.|

I typically use either 2HI or 4LO, very rarely 4HI.

Once out on the trail, I stay in 4lo.
For traveling between trails / riding down trails with no real obstacles, I usually run in 4th in 4lo.
Driving over mild trails, small rocks, shallow mud / water, nothing major, I usually keep it in 3rd in 4lo.
Bigger rocks, hills, <insert other obstacles here>, would dictate 2nd or 1st, depending on whether you need a little speed or momentum (like going up a steep dirt hill) or slow crawling (coming down a rock face).

|NickyVswole||Alright cool someone told me to never use it much at all but 4wd hi totally sucks off road and low is a beast especially in 2nd gear|

|Off Pavement||Out here in Nevada, I run low range most of the time off road. Last trip was 45 miles in 4 low. I almost never use 4 high off pavement.|

4wd lo questions
Just curious to see how many people are in 4wd low most of the time in the trails.
I have a 5 speed and if it's a long stretch of deep mud n puddles I hit it in 2nd gear in lo.
Just curious if it's bad on the drivetrain or what not. It's my first jeep and 4wd hi is way too high geared to creep through the trails. I'm either in 2wd or in 4wd low most of the trail and that's only depending on how challenging n hilly the trail is.
