I'm sorry but no have no idea about gearing...but the JKU is a Sport

kjeeper10 Something like the TF coil lift with shock extensions ? What model do you own .. A sport ? The rubicon shocks are a great upgrade over the stock (black) sport shocks. You can usually find those in the classifieds/CL for $100 Obviously there's room to upgrade. But a good start and inexpensive.

What gears do you have. Gear choice depends mostly on tire diameter.

Pretty freakin dope rig...
Appreciate the feed back...I assumed I would be compromising something going that route...I'd prefer to get it right the first go around. And I've been hearing the same thing from other jeeps about initially thinking they don't want to do extreme off-roading but change their mind...that may be a possiblity, however I'm a lil cowardly when it comes to that. Furthermore I will be adding a stereo system there which I know will add some more weight to my vehicle maybe upwards of 150+ lbs.

I was looking somewhere along the lines of the teraflex kit which runs around 750.00
however like I said I want to try to get it right the first time...so I don't mind spending a 1000.00
will I eventually need to regear as well?

jp2611 This is personal opinion only as I have not modded the JK or JKU at all...the TJ eats all the MOD MONEY!!!

That being said I always cringe when I hear/ read the term " budget _______" To me that is a compromise...and that is not usually the best option for me, because I will upgrade it later, and regret the short term benefits by the "budget" option.

The part about "off roading but no real flexing"...be advised that is what 90% start with in our minds....here is a Pic of my '04 TJ...when I purchased it I said I MIGHT add larger tires when the stockers wore out but that was the only mod it would receive.

Now Different tires, wheels, SL, BL, MML, SYE, new fenders in Front and new flares in the rear, high flow exhaust and intake, stereo, speakers, winch, Bumpers etc.

adding weight to your rig (front and rear bumpers) makes me think a true good SL is the way to go. GOOD LUCK!!

NJeep609 WF,

Slightly embarrassed to be asking some of my questions after I've read about 30 pages on this thread. There is so much information, honestly its hard to digest and it's giving me a headache. However, it definitely has helped me have some some better insight rather than just running off to some shop installing a simple lift and having to worry about problems in the future.

I recently purchased an '14 JKU
now running 33'' duratracs on stocks rims...
however I'm dying to get a kit thrown on...
the jeep is sorta a daily driver, I only get to use it after work hours and on the weekends...I do intend to use it for moderate offroading...notrock krawling and no real flexing...
I'm looking for a 2-2.5'' lift however I want to do it the right way ...I want it to drive as close as possible to stock and not have to worry about future problems (caster, death wobble, etc.)
So far I was looking at
-TeraFlex's Suspension Lift Kit w/ Shocks & Coils
or
-TeraFlex's Budget Boost w/ Shocks

Also, I plan on adding Rock Crawler Rear and Front Bumpers no winch
Please let me know if I am doing too much or too little (I rather pay now then later)

Jacking up the body would work fine.
Your average 3.5 will yield 4" front and 3" rear.

You should be fine running a 3.5 length shaft at 2.5.
The driveshaft compresses as the suspension droops and it has like 6-7" of slip or extension/compression. That 1" won't change much IMO.

JeepChad I'm replacing my front DS and need measurements for Tom Woods to make one. problem is, currently, i'm at 2.5" lift with no control arms, but this winter I plan on adding 1"spacers (3.5" total lift) and at that time adding front lower control arms to fix my caster. Is it possible to measure the required DS length before I make these modifications? I'm thinking I could jack it up front and back 1" but that wont simulate having front lower CAs. Any thoughts? How precise should my DS length measurement be?

Yep, I like a nice multi rate coil to help with weight and ride well.

Budget has a lot to do with my comment. When somebody only has $500-&1000 to work with, 3.5-.5 of lift requires a pretty complete kit.

Iirc, You have fixed CA's which help with pinion angles. Just keep a eyeball on the shafts for grease splatter. Shafts will tend to make noises too.

I was thinking about a winch, racks, hard top, tow package etc. in the future and going 35's, so the jeep itself will be a lot heavier than sitting stock, would the 2.5" still work to get that nice lifted look?

It took me a few seconds to realize "Drevil" was me lol. I was thinking, "Never heard of this dude Drevil." No bumpstops here for my DD by the way.

I have an '08 JKU with a TF leveling kit, 18/59 factory springs and Rubi takeoff shocks. The rear seems to be just the right height, but the front still has more rake than I like. Can I add add'l spacers or should I look at changing front springs? Looks like another inch or so would do it. Ideas?

ask away. I need help. Not looked at any specific manufacturers. Right now I do like trails but I would like to eventually get into rock climbing. Right now I have a trail jacking custom bumpers and the normal set up for the spare tire. But I am looking into replacing my bumpers with metal bumpers like the nerf bars style.

Fronts going to depend on use. The angle is already borderline running stock caster and position of the tranny in the 2012 jeeps.
Time will tell on the front. If playing a lot off road al lot of stress is put on the TC joint.

The rear DS of a 2 door (all years) is short. At about 3" of lift is about the cut off. If you have adjustable control arms .. They help.

2012-2015 automatic front on both
07-2015 rear on a 2 door over 3" of lift.

Congrats.. Nice setup.
On a 2 door you'll prob eventually need driveshafts. Install the lift and go from there. Time will tell.
Another thing you can do is pick up spares.

hey guys, I'm new to the jeep world and just bought a 2014 2 door rubicon. i am thinking of putting a TF 3" LCG lift and 35's. is there anything else you guys would recommend? i have been hearing about getting an aftermarket drive shaft, is this necessary? any info will be helpful!! Thanks!

yes including new tires. I don't want to jack it up to where is need mods on the steering/ axle angles.

A 35 will get you 1.5"
3.5" suspension lift will net 5" total. I wouldn't go much higher than that. Front steering/axle angles are about maxed out and impossible to correct over 4" of suspension lift

3000-3500 for the lift or including tires/wheels ?
