Yeah,I think it is jealous of Junior too..Even though I drive BadBoy most everyday, working on the farm I tend to use Junior because it is easier for my much overweigth (150 pound ) lab to get in and out of and easier to load/unload bags of pecans in and out of...here is Junior (350 chevy,350 turbo tranny, divorced gmc transfer case, gmc 1/2 ton axles )

Probably...I drive it nearly everyday and never have to do anything to it except put gas in it..It has about 4 thousand miles on it now since completion..

harleydragon OH NO !!! I spotted a drop of oil ( yes,1 drop ) on the concrete under BadBoy..Everything is new on this jeep so it freaked me out that my baby was bleeding..Turned out that it was just the fitting in the block that feeds the oil pressure gauge..So,false alarm..I did put a new fitting in it just to make sure...

Thanks ! We lucked into it when we found her. I had just sold my TJ and we decided to wait for a bit. Well I was grazing on Craigslist and BAM just saw this one. Boss lady said lets go look. I lasted literally two months without a jeep. Right place at the right time !!! Some minor rust issue along the seam of each front fender. and the driver side pan was replaced. Other than a mess of mud-dobber nests in every nook and cranny she has been trouble free.

Tahoe Howdy all ! I'm only on here every so often. And you are right about the wrangler thing. I have had all except the JK (yuc)- '64 CJ3B, 92 YJ, 02 TJ, and most recent, '78 CJ5. SO far I have replaced the seats, top, wheels and tires. All gauges are functioning, the only issue is the heater core is leaking so I had that bypassed. Don't really need it down in Texas. Showing 71 k miles, had 69 k when I bought it last year. From the second owner, who knew the original owner so I believe the miles to be accurate. Gonna keep her as stock as possible, 258, 3 spd T-150, and 1 bbl carb.

Okay,I will..a combination of being busy doing other things plus laziness is why I have not started..I have 2 tops,a cj7 and a yj.I plan to use the cj7 because the yj one is very nice.I have to do some measuring but I think that if I cut it straight across just in front of and in back of the side glass it will be the right length.I will also have to notch out the rear corners of the top to match the tub..I'm thinking that to get a good strong bond between the 2 halfs,I might pop rivet some steel strips on the inside of the top and then fiberglass the seam on the inside and outside..if all that works out, then build a sheetmetal piece to bolt in from the floor up to the top..I welcome anyones comments or suggestions..

short answer is 87 or earlier..it is not just a bolt in swap..driveshafts will have to be modified and spring hangers moved out

harleydragon I have been considering cutting a full hardtop down into a half top similar to a scrambler hardtop to go on BadBoy..Just have not talked myself into pulling the trigger yet..
10-14-2013 09:30 AM
Quinnzeeskimo I just got my hard top fitted as well. just not on yet. it also doesn't have any windows so that doesn't really help haha
10-14-2013 08:03 AM
Piratecj7 I'm also retired so the CJ gives me a lot
to tinker with.

Piratecj7 Winter is coming up here in Michigan so I just installed my hard top for warmth for the winter

CJ5_fan I found a broken leaf spring shackle mount on my front frame so I used this forced repair session to attack a long list of 'some day items' for my cj which included:
  • Removed and replaced lower steering shaft due to slop in knuckle
  • Replaced cracked leaf spring shackle mount
  • replaced spark plugs, cleaned cap and rotor
  • replaced ignition switch (broken while removing steering shaft )
  • torqued all visible/accessible bolts on underside of vehicle
  • greased all fittings
  • replaced fuel filter
  • repacked front wheel bearings
Whew, what a PITA..... luv it!

harleydragon hell,I thought the government had already been shut down for years
10-02-2013 08:42 PM
87 Florida YJ You're an absolute machine brother. Sounds like you're getting ready for a government shutdown or something.

Raining all day down here so I took off my two perfectly acceptable doors, sanded them down, wiped them down and painted them once again. An absolutely successful way to waste an afternoon.

I'm definitely deducting 1/365th of any money I owe in taxes this year for every day the government is shut down. I gladly pay my taxes because it pays for the government to operate. It's not operating. I'll show em

wasn't much rest today brother..besides the plug wires,I also pumped a tube of grease in the front knuckles on Junior, replaced a starter and cleaned out a fuel pump on another vehicle, replaced the gas line and changed the oil in the riding mower, sprayed herbicide around 90 pecan trees, worked on Junelle's sewing machine and took Sambo for a good long ride around the farm...retirement is hell..what did you do today??

Quinnzeeskimo Well now most of my gauges work. kinda lol. they work better than they did before witch was not at all. I finally got around to getting my pics on my computer. The car in the back of the one picture is my other car.

harleydragon We have been driving Junior around the farm a good bit this week.Of course our lab always rides with us.There is a gap between the rear bumper and the body that worried me.I have been worried that her leg would slip in the gap and break it as she jumped in and out.So a few days back I welded a piece of 1/4x1 1/2 flat metal in the gap to prevent that.It was a small thing but we have been too busy enjoying life to do much jeep work..
