lavern23 thanks for all the comments. this argument can and will go on forever. my old man is a flat fender fan and makes fun of me because i have a scrambler as well and says "why did you buy that, you should have just bought a truck"

Ok, so that's kinda funny....

yj-genral i own a YJ and i love it. i have no intention of going round, but if i do im going with a CJ hood, grill, and tube fenders, cuz CJ's are sexy. (like sean connery, still sexy but too old to do much with them)

i personally think the OP did a great job with the graft considering he put two different grills together and you cant even tell... that being said id rather have the cj hood with it if i get rounds...

oh and this arguement will go on forever because all the TJ guys make fun of the YJ's so the YJ guys turn it around for the better and make it into a possitive thing instead of an insult... classic.

Fweaky Round lights are more efficient at reflecting light than square because the corners of a square lamp are not reflecting at an optimal angle. That seeing crap is overrated. It's much cooler with the square lights.

AzTJ One serious question:

Is there any difference between the light output and beam patterns of a square/rectangular headlight than a round one? based one sealed bulbs versus a two piece headlamp.

cavediverjc Dear God, people. They're just headlights. That's it. He's not suggesting on doing a complete Hummer H2 body swap. I think square headlights look like shit. But I like Jeep YJs and I'm in the process of trying to buy one RIGHT NOW. Figure that one out? Because they're JUST FREAKIN' HEADLIGHTS. It's time, people, to let it go. It's been over ten years since the round headlights made a comeback. Step back. Take a deep breath. Enjoy your YJs, but leave the headlight drama in the past.

yjkid95 I have to say i love my yj to death but there still are things that i like and dislike about it. I like the interior better then anyother jeep out there its not to rugged but it doesnt look like a sissy jeep on the inside. I love the leaf springs i think that they are unique in a way i dont say many other cars around this time frame with leaf springs front and back. But im not saying i hate the square head lights I like them but dont love them like i love every other part of the yj. But i do love the CJ front end and dont really care for tjs or jks anyways. I plan on finding a CJ nose clip and frame mounts for the grill on craislist and doing the swap. Heres the link on how to do it if anyone is curious Turn Your YJ Into A CJ - Jp Magazine

I was a CJ guy for 30 years and despised a YJ the whole time. I kept the parts for a year to do the grill swap but finally sold them. Now I can't imagine why anyone would switch.

I guess the YJ is an aquired taste...
you either love em,
hate em,
or love and hate em.

To me the height on the cj grill seems taller so that is the confusing part to me and I'm rocking the white rustoleum look so that'll be about $10 out of pocket for a paint job lol... I would just like to see what all it took so I can scope out Craigslist or the Jeep farm that about 2 hours away, that way I dont have to make a second trip.

bugman1964 We'll showed my wife the pics she doesn't like it So it looks like I'm looking at a narrrow cj or a tj with a dash that I'm worried about getting wet.

crtaylor Yeap ,Looks really good. Was thinkong almost on the same lines of what you did.Ill probably use a composite HID headlamp though

lavern23 hey crtaylor is this the look your after?

irontom The proper word is: emasculated.

But in all seriousness - if changing the front lights would be all I had to do to stop the constant high pitched noise coming out from my wife on all things jeep-related I would be already driving around with round headlights.
01-19-2010 11:48 AM
bugman1964 so here is my dilema I love the wider wheel base the yj gave over the cj and simple dash compared to the tj but my wife hates the square lights (I love them) Would I be horrible for doing this to appease my wife?
