Twozerofd you could try some grease, that will make the metal dogbone go through. i usually just put the rubber insert in the shock eye, then apply steady downward force with my hand and slowly turn the metal dogbone. it takes some pushing but it will eventually go.

motokeen They are tight. I used some tire wet on the bushing to make it slick, then I used a socket that is biger then the hole. Then we put the whole assembly in the vice using light pressure to push the metal insert into the bushing. The socket has to be big enough for the metal mount to fit in until it is in the middle of the bushing. A large deep well.

4Jeepn I usually put the insert in 1st.. with a light coating of pb blaster wd-40 etc..if It will not go in right away. then also a light coating on the metal bracket. I raise the shock up so I can use a rubber mallet to tap them both in...

Shock instal question

I just bought some Skyjacker hydro shocks for my 98. My question is for the front instal. On the lower end you have a rubber insert and the mounting bracket that goes through the rubber insert. My question is there a trick to get the rubber insert and bracket through the "eye hole" of the shock. Do you instal the rubber insert into the shock then the bracket, or do you instal the bracket in the rubber insert then instal that into the shock? First time working with vehicle shocks. Anything I need to know about the rear shocks when it comes time to instal them? Thanks guys.
