|Blastek||you also have to release the tension in the drive train before it disengages. if you lift off on the throttle, it usually does it.|

|dawhitesJKU||Got it! Thanks guys. You saved me a trip to the dealer. I disengaged and started turning...next time I know to roll it as I never had this happen when I went off-road.|

|Afmcronnie||You can use 4wd on pavement, just don't try turning. I go to 4H at a stoplight that's at the bottom of a hill, if its raining.|

|kjeeper10||Flat ground and you need to roll for the 4wd to engage and disengage. Just shifting the lever won't do it always.|

4wd still engaged in 2wd
As the title says...
I was mall crawling yesterday.
I couldn't go through the parking lot island on 2wd without burning rubber so I put the jeep in 4wd. After that, I came to a complete stop and put it back in 2wd. (No 4x4 indicator light)
I started to turn the jeep and felt that 4x4 was still engaged. I then engaged 4wd, then back to 2wd again....same symptoms. (No 4x4 indicator yet it felt as if 4wd was still engaged)
Turned off the jeep and turned it back on and all was fine.
