Manual to Power Steering

The conversion to power steering is real easy. Its all bolt-on. You'll need a power steering pump, power steering fluid resevior, pressure and return hoses, a new fan belt, brackets, power steering gear box and a pitman arm. Oh, dont forget the fluid. I did this on my 93 YJ. Manual to power steering with basic mechanics tool set. The only tools I had to get was a tie rod seperator(pickle fork) and a pitman arm puller. jcasscles It is my understanding that power steering is standard, however for some reason this guy special ordered his Jeep and specifically deleted power steering. He was an odd fella who was very good about maintanence and keep everything he owned nice, and for some reason he didn't want the "hassle" of maintaining a power steering system. Not my perspective on life but hey, it was a hell of a deal just so long as I can make the wife happy and upgrade to power steering.

terrible2 i never knew power steering was an add-on. But wtf who wouldnt originally get it??

Atthehop You will need a new steering box, pump, brackets, etc. Not worth it in my book. If you want the FSM PM me.

Power Steering Install

I picked up a very nice '97 TJ with the 4 cyclinder however it does not have power steering. According to the original owner it was a special order without power steering, he said he didn't want it. I purchased this Jeep for my wife and would like to retro-fit power steering and am not sure how involved the project is. If I can find a you-pull-it that has a TJ with power-steering how much of a headache is it to install? Thanks.
