NVRDLMO So it turns out that I work with a guy who lives next door to this guy. It seems his jeep was a p.o.s.,always breaking down. He left well supplied after having an argument with his mail order Russian wife. Kind of a loaner. Had a sixteen year old daughter who lives with his ex.

My guy from work sez that this guy was physically fit and does these kinds of trips all the time. A little weird that he didn't make it out of there but the police haven't questioned any of his neighbors.

Just another Jeep story I guess.

my two cents

This is my two cents. This is as sad as any fatality you here about on the news but have you ever been to Bodie? You should google Bodie and look at the pics. Bodie is not a wooded area! It's just aways from anything . I believe the main highway,395,is about 13 miles from there and the next town is farther than that.

I think there is a lot to be learned here. These things, Jeeps, aren't invincible, they just get you a little farther than other means. You need to be prepared for vehicle problems and changing climate conditions especially in the Sierra's, people forget that. I think he knew the risks though.
