Vordigan But why does this work? Is this letting the fuel pump pressurize the fuel injection so you get fuel to the cylinders immediately?

What needs to be fixed so it starts immediately.

I have an '04 / I6 with same issue. It has to crank for 3-5 seconds in the morning to start. It probably needs a tune up as well

Next time it's below freezing:
Try turning the key on, wait 5 seconds, turn key off, wait 5 seconds, turn key on again, 5 seconds, off for 5 again - then on and try to start it.
(Three times on, 2 times off, then start.)

slf41002 Next time try to just bump it(turn it over till the very second you hear the starter engage and let off) a few times and then on the 5th turn of the key let it try to start and see if it does.

Atthehop Sounds like the fuel pump is not pumping when in the cranking mode.

Jake0224 It started yesterday because it was above freezing and sorry on the lack of info its my 1st thread. It will crank and when it started I had the petal to the floor when I turned the key otherwise it won't start and its got a relatively new battery new battery cables and nearly new starter so that wouldn't cause it but not sure on spark connection. i don't know much about cars/Jeeps mechanically... yet

Atthehop We need more information on what you mean by no start. Does it crank or not. How does it start eventually. Wait for warmer weather. It could be fuel it could be bad connection (spark).
