|mrcarcrazy||very good story. I'm pleased to read you got it back. That's been the primary reason I haven't gotten a spare cover...too many morons here, and I'd hate to have to shoot one over a spare tire cover.|

|RedWrangler||People will steal anything, especially if they're doped up. I concur on the locking cable, or simply leave it bare. Glad to hear about the folks who had your back, and this is a good lesson to everyone, and I think it's a basic tenet of jeeping. It's always good to look out for others, whether it's a recovery on the trail, helping with tech or repairs in here, or watching out for scumbag thieves at the mall. It makes me even prouder to be a jeeper knowing that my fellow lunatics got my back and I have theirs.|

|Fweaky||Good for you! I have had someone try to take my wifes cover several times in th last few weeks and every time it was when she has been at the mall shopping.|

What's a tire cover?
I'm glad you got whatever it was back!
Nice to hear that people out there still care!

|jgano23||that is a great story. good samaritans are few and far between, but there are still some out there. hopefully you can take this experience and "pay it forward" and maybe it will actually spread. i'm glad you got your cover back too!|

|cavediverjc||Glad you got your cover back. I had two stolen from me. I just used a desert camo rucksack cover I had laying around and it was stolen within a week. I replaced it with a woodland camo rucksack cover and it was also stolen; this time it took the thieves almost a month to take it. Now I don't put a cover on at all.|

Does yours have two small grommet holes at the bottom to slide a lock through it? I use one of those Flexible Gun Lock Cables on mine, and it works great.
Great story! At least there are some Good Folks still out there! Karma comes around... that little BASTAGE will get his due someday!
Best of Luck!

There is hope in this world!
Saturday, my 5yr. old son and I drove the Jeep to Barnes & Noble (right beside the local mall) to find some books. Being the holiday season, the lots were packed, but we found a spot right between the mall & book store. We were only inside for maybe a half hour, when we came back out, I discovered my spare tire cover missing. Not that it's an expensive one, but I personally designed the graphic on it, "Rock On" with a skeleton hand throwing horns (you can kinda see it in my avatar). So it's custom, which means something to me. Gone. I was pissed, it just never crossed my mind in that busy lot that somebody would have the balls to rip off a spare tire cover, though in retrospect it's not like its very hard to do. So I start to leave, driving down the row of cars, and suddenly two ladies start yelling at me to stop. I do, and they tell me they saw somebody trying to take it earlier, they yelled at them, and the would-be thief dropped it and took off (apparently some teenager trying to get it for shits & giggles). They grabbed it and held onto it until they seen me in the Jeep starting to leave. Yay for good samaritans!
Guess I need to attach that thing a little more securely so thieves have to work a bit harder for it.
