ygohome is the winch plate that bent... was that the the winch plate that I read about on here that had bent previously and was bent back and re-welded with additional bracing? or am I thinking of a different persons winch plate?

I'd go with the warn winch plate. The tow hooks or whatever you decide on should always be tied into the frame. Anything else is asking for disaster, as you have already discovered. If the lamps are in the way then relocate the lamps further away or get rid of them or take your chances with the hooks close to the lamps. Compromising the mounting location and strength of the tow hooks to protect the lamps is a bad idea.

chiro2736 Sounds to me like you already decided what YOU want.
I think you should go with the Warn and the "RING THINGS"
If not when the other breaks you will be kicking yourself.
Just stick with your gut, and let your friend try his Idea on his own rig.

nicolas-eric These ring things are available from 3000 - 45000 lbs with M16 to M48 treads.

I would buy the 6600 lbs version with a braking strength of 46000 lbs and a M16 thread.

03 RUBI What is the rating of those "ring things" and the bolts? That would be the first question I'd ask before mounting them.

nicolas-eric IMO with the Warn plate that wouldnīt happen because it has contact to the bumper in the front.

nicolas-eric On the winch plate bolts they were only 1" away from the hella high beams. That was too close IMO.

A buddy used the hooks there many times for his winch tow hook when no tree was there. But for tha own winch and a snatch block it was to weak IMO. And the Unimog also pulled me out on both of these hooks.

2002Apex why werent the tow hooks mounted to the winch plate bolts in your original setup?.. why did you mount them on the side of the plate. that could be another issue of why it failed.

Winch Plate And Tow Hooks

Hello.

I need a new winch plate and new front tow hooks. They were installed on the side of the plate and because of that the plate bent and is very weak now.

Rokmen and AtoZ donīt ship to Germany.
Warn is expensive but seems to be very good.

A friend told me that I should install 2 of these things

in the lower front of a Warn or Gorilla winch plate and enforce the plate with two additional pieces of metal on both sides

He said these plates are way stronger and they will not bend because of their different design compared to my old plate. (the metal plate in the front has contact to the bumper on both sides all the time)

Is that a good idea?

What would you do?
D-rings in front of the bumper arenīt allowed here.

Thanks.
nicolas-eric
