Well just about got the inside of my jeep just about wrapped up, just need to order a new brake light switch an wire it up, an the electrical will be complete!!! I do have a feeling that the ol 35 rear end prob won't hold up too long, but I think ill just swap in an 8.8. Besides a few wires to hide an my speedo to hook up an program, I'm 97% done!!! It's well worth all the time and money!!!!

I ended up putting two 30" cherry bomb glass packs. I like the "ol school" sound an it's not that loud an actually pretty quiet at hwy speed. But, when I down shift an mash out, u def know that they are there!! Lol
Hell they were cheap! 31$ each with tax an I did all the welding myself!

|WICruiser||Great job, I wish my project was any where near that far along.|

|TexasDemon84||Congrats!! Looks great. Boy those 350s sure sound great. I told the guy that did my exhaust I just wanted a good muffler not real quiet not too loud. I don't want no Flowmaster or such. I go to pick it up sounds great. I get home look under Jeep, he put in a stainless Magnaflow.|

New update.... Got all exhaust piped in an hung. Now I just need to wire up my headlights an brake lights, and blinkers... Then it will finally B road legal lol.
I can say one thing, this is a whole new animal! It's 5 times the motor that was in it from factory, an it's nice to hear a lil v8 rumble in it!!! Wow is all I can say!!
Just need to paint exhaust black to match frame.... Can't leave it red with a blue jeep lol.....
|10-05-2013 10:32 AM|
Well finally!!!! ) ))!!!!
I started piping in my exhaust last nite after work, got one side done. Just need to finish the passenger side, an the blue machine will be ready to drive out the shed!!!! Woohoo!!
After that, it's just a matter of checking all connections for leaks, re installing my tach an speedo, front fenders, an wiring up my headlights an blinkers!!! Finally so close!!! ) ) ) )
Just hope that two 30" cherry bomb g.packs won't piss off the neighbors......... )
Ill post pix today after I get off of work later!!! So dam excited!!!

That's how I had measured first, which gave me my 17.500" length.
Then I called to have a shaft built here locally, an they told me to measure ctr-ctr of Ujoint caps. Which factory is 13.250", and my need is 1.500"-1.625" longer. The factory auto tranny shaft is 14.875" running length. So I'm thinkn that it will b pretty dam close!!! Got my fingers crossed!!! We will find out tomorrow after work as my new shaft will b waiting when I get home!!!!

|indirocz28||Try the shaft, but you need to measure from the center of the rear yoke up to the tail housing, then add the length for the slip yoke of how far it sticks inside.|

I've actually robbed some hoses off of the truck I had bought to do my swap. I robbed two hoses off the truck, the I just cut off the xtra length I didn't need.
The only other option I had found was to get some universal/custom cut to length hose. But it was expensive. So I took the cheap route for now. Lol

|kywaterman||Not sure on the answer for your question, but I have a question for you. What is the part number for the radiator hoses your running? or what application were they originally for?|
|09-21-2013 09:39 PM|
|CAJUN YJ||Hey guys, I've got a question about my rear driveshaft. I'm needing a shaft that is real close to 15" running length.... A stock length yj shaft for a auto tranny is 14-7/8" running length... Do you guys think I could run that shaft??? I've got a buddy with a parts jeep yj, with an auto tranny. Said I could have the shaft..... But want to mk sure it will work|
|09-17-2013 08:25 AM|
Yea gettn real close finally! I was able to start it an let it run for a lil while. Wanted to mk sure that I had no coolant leaks, or oil leaks. Now all I go left is to bleed clutch, drain an clean tank, an build my driveshaft at work, then I should beable to take her for a spin!!!
Wish I could post a short video, she sounds mean!! Lol
|09-16-2013 03:13 PM|
|kywaterman||Congrats man! Glade to see your about done|
|09-15-2013 10:24 PM|
|indirocz28||Congratulations!!! It will be well worth it!|
|09-15-2013 03:47 AM|
Well finally!!! Woo hoo!!! Got my cooling system Finally in an piped in, fuel pump wired an piped. Now just need to drain the dam tank again......;/
Shitty, crappy, junk ethanol fuel.....
But, before I drain the tank, I think ill just put a jug of gas underneath an prime up pump to ck for leaks........ An of course push the start button!!!!!!! It's still open header but it will b ok to run for 5 min r so.... Lol ready to hear it run!!! Sob it took a while, but I think it's well worth the headache!
Now just need to bleed clutch, measure the length for new rear drive shaft, build it at work an have it balanced, then finish wiring up gauges in dash, an ill finall beable to drive it outta the shed!!! Dam excited!!

|indirocz28||I know the feeling. I had a day off today and spent all day re doing my exhaust, and putting in a new Prothane transmission mount and re- checking all the bolts from originally installing my lift kit.|
|09-11-2013 09:28 PM|
|CAJUN YJ||Thx man, i need the encouragement lol, I'm getting kinda frustrated with the whole thing. I'm so busy with work an stuff, I barely have time to turn a wrench anymore.|
|09-11-2013 01:38 PM|
|indirocz28||Great! Best of luck!!|
|09-10-2013 09:17 AM|
|CAJUN YJ||Well, the correct radiator an new intake will be here today! So finally, ill beable to start an let it run for a bit. Hopefully at least!! Ill post pix of my dash an stuff later tonite!|
|08-30-2013 11:45 PM|
|CAJUN YJ||Thx man! I know exactly what you mean about the life stuff!! Lol with two lil ones on the way, I'm about to get a big kick in the ass by life! Lol|
|08-29-2013 12:26 PM|
Looks good man! Sorry I've been MIA recently, just a lot of life stuff going on currently.
Glad you're getting it together!!
|08-27-2013 11:06 PM|
Yep that's what I also did... Used fuel inj. connection harness an added a 100 amp +/- bus bar that I had extra from re wiring my boat... Figured it would wk good being a marine bus. Now I have a few xtra terminals to add some goodies....
If ya look down by the shifter, up against the fire wall, you can see the bus I added...
|08-27-2013 10:53 PM|
|kywaterman||Im going with a new 18 circuit chassis harness from speedway. There pretty cheap and will surely make the wiring a breeze. Plus like you say 20+ yr old wiring in a jeep has been hacked up many times... Then it will give me extra circuits for down the road|
|08-27-2013 04:49 PM|
The paint I used is some krylon spray for plastic. Had bought it to spray the dash when I first put new gauges but figured if it stuk to plastic it would hold dam good to aluminum lol
|08-27-2013 01:52 AM|
|Ianbeaulieu||I have been looking into doing a swap in mine but with going into the af in a month might have to wait|
|08-26-2013 11:16 PM|
|kywaterman||Looking good man, you had the exact same idea as me it seems. Once I had my dash all apart making a flat dash is going to be super easy and look 20x better imo. What did you paint it with in that last pic?|
|08-26-2013 08:27 AM|
Well finally makn more progress..... Takn more time than I would like but it's still moving....
Got all the old jeep wiring out this weekend an started re wiring with new switches an also started Mkn a new dash plate.
|08-14-2013 11:57 PM|
|CAJUN YJ||Slow... I've been so busy with wk an other stuff here at home, I haven't had much time to wk on it. I actually pulled wires today, an wired up my motor an ECM.... Now I just got to get the gauges an dash wired bk up, install my fuel pump, an get me a rear driveshaft an I actually mite beable to start an drive it!!! Lol|
|08-14-2013 04:02 PM|
|blakeq63||How's the swap going?|
