It will be covered it in gray outdoor carpet. I still would like a add a lock(s) to it. Will fit right behind the rear seat. I didn't use a hinge on this box. Figured it wouldn't hold screwed into the 1/2" mdf. Holds (4) 1 quart bottles. The other side can hold gear oil and brake fluid. Just need to add some tools, emergency/recovery gear. Any suggestions? Any thing I really need in it?
I have a good amount of room left.

95riogrande I will post some of my pics in a little bit. I'm making some dividers for it now to hold some extra fluids and some tools.

Lancem I'm finishing up a simular thing in my build, took a piece of 1/8" diamond plate cut to fit on top of the fender wells, welded a piano hinge at the front end of it to another piece of 1/8" that drops over the front of the fender wells. Bolted that to the fender wells and welded a piece of 3/4" angle to the tailgate. Now when the tailgate is closed and locked the lid is locked down, open the tailgate and 2 gas spring struts lift it up. Strong enough to stand on, and I think very secure and all for around $100, could have done it for less going with plain hot rolled steel instead of the diamond plate.

NAVYCHIEF that was a long time ago........1990.just cut the top the shape of the area between the tailgate and the back of the seat. this is the horizontal piece.make it wide enough to overlap the wheel wells for attachment. then connect the verticle piece from it down to the floor. works just like the tuffy does i guess ypu could also put a hinged door in the top.

Custom Storage Trunk

I'm working on making a storage trunk that fits with the rear seat installed. I used the exterior dimensions of the Tuffy Security Storage Trunk. Exterior Dimensions: 9 5/8”L, 33 7/8”W , 11 3/8”H. I'm going to use 1/2” mdf. I will most likely carpet the finish product. I have the correct dimensions of each piece. I have not yet decided the locking mechanism. Top: 9 1/8” x 33 7/8”, Back: 11 3/8” x 33 7/8”, Front 10 7/8” x 33 7/8”, Bottom: 8 5/8” x 33 7/8”, Sides: 8 5/8" x 10 3/8”. I'll post pictures of the build. I know it might not be as secure as the Tuffy 16 guage steel storage trunk but I can't see myself paying $300 for it. Why not build my own. If someone wants to get into something bad enough usually they will. If it is out of sight they might not risk breaking in.
