I have the same issue, but had the header replaced,

and even had the (newish) windshield resealed. Still have what I consider to be excessive wind noise.

Has anybody tried to put weatherstripping on the seam where the roof connects to the frame? How about weatherstripping the windshield?

bigjerm646 Just got the call. Going to pick her up tonight! They said they replaced the header. I'll find out later today if there is a differenct!

bigjerm646 Made my appointment for Wednesday. They got to make sure that I don't already have a metal header ('09). And if not I am getting one. It sounds like I dont.

LAXADAISICAL616 For some reason the dealer is asking for $400, no clue why. I'm going to call them again and discuss it. If all else fails I might just buy the part and install it myself

Well, the excessive wind noise is GONE...
Where it used to start was between 15-20 mph and of course all the way up to highway speeds...Now it's much quieter than I could have hoped for...perfect!
If you have wind noise that seems more than "normal" and you own a 2007 and up soft top...take it in and refer to TSB 23-010-09 Rev.A and they should take care of it. I'm a happy Jeeper...
I second this. I took it to the dealer, they ordered the new metal header, did everything for free, and now it's all good!

mowbizz Just brought mine in today for the TSB 23-010-09 RevA and they determined it needed the service and ordered the new part. It should be in by next week! I'm psyched!
Just a note: I am the 2nd owner of the Jeep and there were no questions about ownership at all. The vehicle is still under factory warranty though, and I purchased the extended warranty for it as well.
I thought it was a good move since this was a new"body style/engine" year model (2007)

TSB:
23-010-09 Rev A - Wind-Noise

2007-2009 Jeep Wrangler JK's

Part Numbers Replaced:
68049276AB HEADER-FOLDING TOP
68003640AB STAYPAD-FOLDING TOP

I just had mine replaced about a month ago. The JK's came with a Plastic Header that will warp over time (even new...), and you'll hear wind like crazy. The TSB replaces the Plastic Header with a Metal Header. Quiet as a mouse now!

Best of Luck!

Cheers!

Got mine back today. Can't believe the difference! Thanks very much for the info.

jk'n It's not too late for the extended warranty but I know I always like to include it in the closing costs of the loan. I did do that on my jeep as a new purchase. I extended it from 3-36 to 7-100. It was an after market warranty, not the Chrysler.

Well hell's bells. If I'd have known that, I'd have bought the extended warranty.

I did, it was repaired for free as part of my "Lifetime Warranty"..... I need to look into that and see what it is all about, why do I have it on my '09 but it wasn't available on the '10.......... seems weird.

Anyway, do you need a copy of this Technical Service Bulletin from somewhere? Where can I get one?
The lifetime warranty on the drive train is to the original owner. It is not transferable to the next owner.

Your transfer case problem was covered under the original 3 year 36,000 mile warranty which is transferable.

I had a problem with the transfer case linkage too. Please see this thread for more information.

I now keep three spares in my glove box for those times when I wheeling way out in the middle of no-where.

As long as you're the Current Registered Owner, and the Jeep came with a Soft Top to begin with, then yes. Did you buy it through a Dealer, or Private Seller?

Cheers!

Depends whether or not your current JK came equipped with a Soft Top (Sales Code VJ0). If so, they wouldn't be able to tell, and would probably do the Repair, no questions asked. On the other hand, if it originally came with a Hard Top, they would know that from the Sales Code for the Hard Top, and would most likely deny the Repair. However, it's not that costly, and would be a worth while Repair to have done, even if the $$$ are out of your pocket. I suppose it would depend on just how bad the Wind Noise is bothering you.

Mine came with the Hard Top when I bought it, but I told the Dealer I wanted it swapped with a Soft Top instead. When it came time for the TSB Repair at my Local Dealer, I had to show my Sales Receipt, to prove that my Purchasing Dealer had in fact installed it, before they would approve the Repair for Free.

Best of Luck!

Cheers!

jk'n I would hope if the top is a mopar, that they would stand behind it. Probably depends on what is wrong with it.

Wind Noise ? for '07 with soft top

Noticed that all the wind noise in my new JK is coming from the top of the windshield, and it seems to be a bit excessive. Anyone else having this problem? I'm not sure how to remedy this, but it does seem that the soft top's seal isn't wonderful...
