Gumpy2030 Well after months I did end up ordering the RE SF 3.5" lift with adjustable front track bar and adjustable lower control arms. I am going to put it on tomorrow so any tricks or advice would be great. I found this write up which seems to cover most everything pretty well.

Gumpy2030 I am curious if the new control arms are necessary for now or will mainly affect my offroad driving and flexing. Will the stock control arms be sufficient for now as a DD with some light off roading? I promised my wife I would not go overboard on the Jeep for a few years. She gets a new car next year so I only can do so much for now.

willysmb You could do that,but Id check the price difference of the basic kit with the adj front track bar vs the complete superflex kit.I think they hit you pretty large for just the arms later......

Gumpy2030 So I should opt for the adjustable track bar. But will I be fine using the stock control arms for now and then upgrade to the adjustable ones once I go down the road with the SYE?

willysmb Just looked at your kit, it doesnt include the adjustable front trackbar.You will need to drill new holes to relocate the stock trackbar or your axle will be skewed over to one side.It only has 4 lower control arms vs all 8 the other kit has,with 4 being adjustable (all 8 an option).If you plan on a SYE in the future,adjustable control arms are needed.And I would at least go for an adjustable front trackbar as an add-on to your kit.

Gumpy2030 I have read a ton about this size lift and did realize I would have that problem. From what I can tell by most peoples posts installing the TC drop will work. Once it turns into a weekend toy and getting more use I would most likely do the SYE unless someone has some advice against this. Do I need to spend my money on that superflex kit or will the standard be good enough for my uses for now?

Yes,SYE or healthy TC drop,I installed the 4.5" superflex kit(3.5 srings substituted) last fall ,nice kit,but really runs on the tall side,closer to 4.5".If you go the SYE route,your going to want adjustable rear control arms to adjust pinion angle with the SYE.

You might need a SYE with this kit. So, you should take this into acount when establishing the buget.

Gumpy2030 Ok. That is what I thought but the local shop said it was stock without even leaving their desk. I am deciding whether to add a BL and spend my money on regearing or do a suspension lift and live with the bad gearing for awhile. My 32's I am used to now so going to the 33's might not be awful. Any advice would be great.
Another question, So if I start with the standard RE 3.5 will I be fine as a DD w/ light off roading? I think then I can add control arms and such later as I start investing more in the build. At this point I just am looking for improving the ride and clearing 33's but investing into something that can be upgraded slowly.

distortedtj Welcome to the forum bud.

You DO have a BB or budget boost lift . The hard rubber spacers on top of the coil springs.

As for the rubbing when you turn hard....adjust the steering stop. just put a washer or two under the bolt.

If it is rubbing the flares and not on the swaybar/control arms. Well...more lift is the fix.

New Jeep need buld advice...

Hi all and I look forward to getting some advice from you guys. I just purchased a TJ and need a little help since the local shop is worthless. It is my third Jeep and plan on actually keeping this one forever. It will be my DD for the next 3-4 years then it will be converted to my weekend toy. I can't tell if my current set up has the Budget Lift and my local shop wouldn't even stick their head out the window to give me some advice (decided then I would be building this one myself). Hopefully these pictures give you some help. It currently has 32's but does rub when I do hard turns.
I planned on putting a 3 or 3.5" Teraflex of RE lift but want to know if I currently have something on there. I also planned on 33's this summer but the 3.07 gears worry me a bit. Mainly commuting 15 miles to work on some light off roading here and there.
Well I am having problems uploading pictures of the coil so that makes it hard to get your help. I will see if I can figure it out or what is going on.
