JDsDream Congrats on your new Jeep. Go ahead and post some pics and set up your Jeep profile. As for warranty, as stated above, many mods can cancel parts if not all of your warranty. By your post, you don't sound like you will be interested in mods for awhile. I purchased the extended warranty and I am glad that I did. I had the rear seals replaced at around 47,000mi and it cost me $50 out of pocket and I am going to have a few more things that will need attention by summer. So it is a personal choice that should be based on how long you will keep it and what you intend to do with it.

BenDiem Congrats! You'll love it.

My two cents? Warranties are good and bad... Some items may need them, some don't. Think type of car and how you plan to use/drive it/what could go wrong and consider costs, type of electronic product/item, etc...

Weigh the pros and cons and only you will know how you plan to use the item whether warranties are worth it. If you know yourself, then you know your answer.

This is what I've done during the past six months:

1. Purchased new home and took out the extended warranty for new Fridge, & Washer & Dryer because the ones I purchased were very expensive w/lots of special electronic gizmos. Fridges run all day long...

2. Bought new M/C and did not get the extended warranty. Just a toy.

3. Bought new sports car and did not get the extended warranty. Ditto.

4. Bought new DD sedan and did not get extended warranty. Car will be traded for a new one b/4 four year warranty runs out.

5. Bought new JEEP and did not get extended warranty b/c I know I'll want a new one in four years...

6. I will buy two new Sony LCD TVs w/my income tax refund, and will purchase extended warranty b/c our TVs are always running/on whether we are watching TV or not.

Just my two cents.

Good luck!

RubiJK12 First, Congrats on the new Jeep!

The warranty issue has caused me some stress. With the new Jeep, it sounds like you may want to do some modifications. Be sure and check to see how any mods affect the warranty, if that is significant to you. The only time I ever had to use an extended warranty, something I had done voided that particular part and it came out of my pocket. So check and get clear understanding of what you can and can't do. It seems like it is more difficult to get the extended warranties to cover some items.

Again, congrats and best of luck!

I have gotten the extended warranty on my last three vehicles. It payed off big time on my PT Cruiser...now out of warranty and doing things that make me wish the extended warranty was still active.

I love it ^_^ I didn't get a Rubicon like I was initially going for cause in the end, I just couldn't justify the extra 8-10k on "maybes" (I know if I would have got it, I most likely would never used it to it's full potential and it would have been a waste of money) and the Sport was much more in the range I wanted to spend initially anyway.

No picture cause I'm lazy and it's nothing no one here has seen but anyway. I'm happy =D The other day it was raining pretty good and the wind was blowing REALLY hard and wow, it was just so neat in a Jeep...

I passed on the dealers extended warranty though... I wasn't sure if this was smart or not as it seemed like a waste of money to me but... he said I could come back in by next week if I decide to get it. Any input here?
congratulations!! I'm excited for you Enjoy your Jeep.

PecosRiver I got it on both of my Jeeps. One bad year on my 2001 Grand Cherokee hit me with some serious mechanic bills. Tranny was the worst. Total of $7000 that year.

Now here's my grand plan for the warranties. On my Grand Cherokee, I have the lifetime warranty. I plan on keeping that car until it rusts out from under my wife. Once the car is gone, I'll take the Hemi from that an put it in whatever I'm driving at the time. If I'm lucky, that should happen right about the time Chrysler puts a brand new Hemi in the Cherokee. paid for by the lifetime warranty.
