Agreed, I would roll with a SYE if possible, spend a little more money but worth it in the long run and its not a band-aid solution like the t-case drop. Im in Lake Carmel if you need help.

As far as wrenching, do it yourself if possible, get some wheeling buddies to come over and provide the booze. Saves you money and you know what you need to fix when it breaks in the woods.

97TJbrownNY Also remember if you are going 4'' there may be a chance that you will have to get an SYE/CV combo, I wouldnt reccomend the T-case drop bracket never had any luck with it whatso ever..... temp fix for a permanent problem.

duaneduanet I helped my friend put his 4" RC lift kit on and neither one had done it before. It took us about 12 hrs total. I would go with the extra bolt kit so you don't have to use any of the factory bolts. We did have to cut the ones that hold the leaf spring on to the shackles. It was extremely easy. the hardest thing was cutting the bolts.

uplifted Well i can't comment on the 2.5" but i do have the RC 4" on mine...It's a tough call though.. If you ever plan on going up in tire size, then do the 4", if not then do the 2.5".. Most likely you'll get a better ride with the lower lift as they say the more arch in a spring, the stiffer ride you get..

whiteyj Don't know about the RC kits or worse ride. My 2 cents is go all the way if you even remotely think you might at a later date. I'm some $700 in on the RE 2-1/2 kit and am at a place where the 4" is in my future.

BillyPost16 Ok now Im torn and need some real advice from other with expirience. I see that the 4" Rough Country is the same price and I guess the saying is true go big or go home. From those that have tried both, does the extra 1.5 really make the Jeep ride worse in the road.

uplifted It can be done easily with hand tools, jack and stands....If you need help though, I could probably fit you in the shop...I'm in westchester

4Jeepn If you can use basic tools you can do it at home. I would however read the directions start to finish before starting, and also a few days before you begin, pre-soak the hell out of all the nuts/bolts etc, with something like PB Blaster.

whiteyj Man do yourself a favor and do it yourself. With a floor jack and jack stands as long as you have some decent hand tools you are all set. By doing it yourself, you'll learn the working of the underside and suspension of your rig and be very familiar with the underside should you ever bend or break something on a trail. Not to mention you'll save a few buck by not paying a shop!

Where to get Jeep Lifted in NY

I have a 1993 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 5 spd.
I am back and forh between the Rough Country Lift 2.5 and 4' Kit. I am probably going to upgrade once my current tires are worn to 31" so I will most likely be going with the 2.5. I am curious though, I do not have access to a mechanic shop or proffessional lift. I have a very heavy duty floor life and jack stands, but I am a little weary about attacking this project myself being this is my first Wrangler and first attempt at putting a lift kit in.
I have expirience working on cars, I attempt to do all work myself if I can.
If anyone can give me some advice, a good write up for this kit (I saw the instuctions on the site which look pretty descriptive) I would appreciate it.

I am wondering though if anyone is aware of any shops or any individuals living in or around Long Island NY that are reasonable or are looking to make some extra cash and give me a hand.

All responses are appreciated.
