bluvikng I choose tires, known for their traction abilities. But then again, it is all in what you like to do with your heep. If you keep your heep, on the street, just go with a cushy radial, with small lugs. You will get a quite, smooth, ride, and longer tire life.

They are a bit noisy and will sing a person to sleep on the highway, but they are great tires for wheeling. I only got them because this set was 400.00 mounted and balanced with 90 percent tread left. In the future if I get a rig to build I will probably put the MT-R's on it (because of my experience with this set).

hazmat thanks for the input I have the black d windows w/ the a/t's now on my khaki jeep I think it looks awesome ! but I have a 90 dodge 1/2 ton 4x4 I wan't to put the tires and wheels on when I move up and I was concerned that my next set of steelies won't balance right . the machine at my shop is a piece of crap. I might go eagle alloys w/ 33in mtz's if they run well on slick pavement. I'm gonna look at the coopers and toyo's too !

I too have seen them in person on a few US Boarder Patrol TJ Wranglers. A friend has a contract to put lifts and new tires on about 15 of them and they are all getting MTZ's... I might be able to snag a few when he orders more next month.

Scoob Went from MT/r's to the MT MTZ's. The MTZ's are the best all around tire I have ever owned. They do very well on snow rain covered roads. They also do very well offroad and outperform the MT/r's in everything. However we dont have rock gardens in the area I wheel in (Nebraska, Kansas and Iowa).
By contrast the MTrs are some of the worst tires I have ever owned. Horrible on rain snow covered roads, even dry pavement was iffy when you got on the brakes hard and lousy in dirt and mud. In deep untouched snow they did pretty well in though.

I also had a set of Trxus but the guy at the shop I bought them at could not get 2 of the 5 balance at all so they were returned before ever getting on the Jeep. Even swapping rims would not help, 2 of them just would not balance out.
If it is for all road use, I agree with the others that the BFG AT's would be hard to beat. However if you play off road much at all I would go with the MTZ's, Cooper STT's or Toyo's. All are a siped mud tire that do well on and off road.

Yeah, I would have expected it if it where like my TSl Bias, which I loved. But with the radials I would not have figured on the balanace issue, go figure. Other wise I am really happen with them. Although I hear a set 38's tsl's calling my name...LOL

I think these are going to be my next set. I run Wrangler 33 12.50 MT-R's right now.

binaryking If your jeep is going to be driven mostly on the street, just go with the BFG All Terrains. They are awesome tires, wear well, no noise and perform great in all types of situations. The mud terrains also wear well and have low road noise, but the All Terrains were better in snow. For the money they can't be beat.

For an all around performer tire?? I choose the Toyo Open Country MTs. They are better than any BFG tire I've owned or driven except for road noise. I have the BFG KMs on my 2500HD and don't care for them much. The ATs are a great DD tire and last a long time but the Toyos out perform the BFG ATs in winter conditions.

I personally tell people to stay away from the trxus. I had 37x12.50 Trxus MTs on my jeep and they were great until I broke them in a bit. Once the thread started to wear they were nasty.

I have seen the Mickeys in person. I have wanted to get some actual user reviews but haven't read that much into it. They look like a great tire and by comparison they are lighter weight than equal tires of the same size.

4Jeepn I have the trxus mt's in 35's. Road ride is nice, not too loud, good in the rain, snow etc. Off-road they don't excell at any one thing, but do a bit of everying decently. They can be a pita to balance at least the larger size's, not sure why.

tire opinion

I'm running a 2' bb w/ 32 bfg a/t's right now . In april I'm gonna put in a d44 w/ trutrac ome 2in lift 1 in bl and 1in mml . I like the bfg's but does any one have an opinion on the trxus mt's or the mickey thompson mtz's ? this is for a mostly street driven jeep .
