Ok. Raised winch plate. Should be easy as pie.

What kind of winch plate and what front bumper do you have?
I had to drill holes in the top of my Smitty classic bumper with my RC flat winch plate. The two front bolt heads for the winch made contact with the bumper before it could sit flat on top of it. They cleared my stock bumper. A slightly raised winch plate also prevents this problem.
I made the holes in the bumper big enough for the winch bolt heads to drop inside them. Easier than trying to run the bolts through the bumper, then the plate, and into the winch.

And you can still mount the winch on the plate first.

Shark_13 Little common sense goes a long way

Usually easiest to mount the winch to the plate, then bolt to the Jeep.

Big Cole Mount the winch to the winch plate first then bolt the plate to the front of your rig.
