jeepfan8 Just thought I'd drop a line to say thank you to alec@EADOffRoad, nickdz, and tomaboyd for letting me know the brackets weren't needed and share a quick update.

So... I got in touch with Sandra@gobi, and I have to tell you... she's rocks! I told her how I didn't want the AEV adapters now 'coz my good friends at the WF told me they installed on the 10a bumpers without it, and if I could swap the adapters for hi-lift attachment kit if I offered to pay the difference (as this costs like ~40 something more than the adapters). guess what, she didn't even charge me for it!

I've been reading great things about GOBI products and I'm yet to experience it... however I'm already impressed by their customer support!

We have sold several to customers with 10A bumpers now, no problem at all and nothing special required.

It's only the AEV bumpers and Expedition one bumpers than need special brackets that we know of. That's out of the 10s of aftermarket bumpers built for JKs since 2007.

FYI GOBI typically take the bumpers off when they install racks, the owner Paul told me he thinks it saves time.

jeepfan8, did you purchase from us? If so I may be able to swap that AEV bracket out for something else. PM me if you did.

Maybe that is where they are saying you need an adapter???
Thanks tomaboyd for the info and the pic. The setup look great on the anvil!
Since I got the adapter for free anyway, I'll try and see if that would allow me to install without any mods.

On a different note how is the wind noise riding it? I'm asking mainly 'coz I noticed you don't have any lights up there yet, so was wondering if its loud? I saw some posts about folks mentioning that lights would help keep the noise down.

Just to confirm, you did not use/need the AEV adapter kit with the 10A rear bumper?

tomaboyd I put a Gobi Stealth on my 10a JKU a couple months back and it went on perfectly. No adapters or anything needed.

FYI,

1) you do not need to take off the rear bumper as shown in the instructions. You just need to take off the end caps. Makes life a lot easier.

2) When you go to put the rack part on (roof part), just use some blankets and set it on the roof. No need to make some contraption to hold the thing up in the air.

This is the only pic I had handy.

Ordered!!

Ordered the Gobi stealth roof rack system. Looks like Gobi has a sale going on, and throwing in an extra free accessory, and I picked the 2nd ladder for free. I personally think the 2nd ladder compliments the look and makes it even cooler ... love the way the ladder wraps around the body!
I placed my order through Trail Duty. Really nice guys to deal with. They threw in a free AEV adapter kit (worth $139 or so) with my order. Will take 4 weeks or so to receive it, but I'm not in a rush as my Jeep is still in D1 and may only show up around that time anyway

As promised I'll post a pic in a month or so...

jeepfan8 Gobi custoner service got back promptly last night and after a few emails back and forth it appears I should get the AEV bracket to make it work on the 10A bumper. I'll be shopping around today to see which vendor can get it soonest to me. Looks like there is a wait time on these orders as they are built to order and roughly about 4-7 weeks.

Hopefully i won't run into surprises during install
I'll post up pictures when I'm done.

cradled In for updates I too have been contemplating one. hope to see it soon!
10-15-2013 08:19 PM
jeepfan8 I've placed a few calls to gobi vendors... ones I got through didnt have an answer but promised to get back. I've also sent an email to gobi directly...hopefully they are prompt at responding. I'll update back if I hear any news for the benifit of anyone else with same questions.
I have already looked in some of the threads including the 10a mods thread but didnt find a conclusive answer. There was a talk about needing bracket for aev bumpers but given that these aren't technically aev, that may not necessarily be the case.

gobi rack on a 10a bumper

Anyone here who has this setup? I'm getting the rubicon-x but essentially same bumper right and I figured I'd have much more luck seeing if any 10a owners have done this as you guys have had these for a while

So my questions are:
1. are these compatible?
2. If not any brackets or hardware that can make it work without drilling or other options I cant roll back from?
3. Picture is worth a 1000 words...so any pics pls?

I really appreciate any help.
