When I discovered the spare axle shaft a friend had brought along for me wasn't configured for my TJ correctly, I had to finish the trail in 3wd after removing the busted axle shaft & u-joint. To prevent breaking the driver's side axleshaft due to the added stress of being in 3wd, I had to use the winch a lot to make it the rest of the way.
Be careful not to give it too much gas when your steering wheel is hard over.

|blacksport||hmm. how do you know that jerry?! lol I dont have a locker, when I changed my diff fluid it was just a bunch of gears! I am taking it easy on it around corners. I didnt think it would cause any problems just wanted to ask the educated people. Not sure why its hopping but ill just take it easy on her. Thanks|

|Jerry Bransford||Driving in front-wheel drive doesn't hurt anything. Does your front axle have a locker? If so, that's why it hops. Just don't give it too much power with the steering wheel cranked all the way as that places a lot of stress on the u-joint area which can break things. Ask me how I know that.|

|s3nt3nc3d||I can't speak for straight driving...I wouldn't imagine that would hurt much, but turning on dry pavement is going to be extremely hard on it. It'll be just like driving on dry pavement in 4hi...it's gonna hop like you mentioned and stress the gears/differential in the front.|

Driving with rear drive shaft pulled
Hey guys in the process of changing out my rear pinion seal (drive shaft) and Havent had time to try to get the nut off the yoke(its a pain!) Ive been driving in 4hi with the front wheels. I know ive seen people doing it but Im just curious if it actually hurts anything? the only thing weird is when I turn and give it gas the front end hops but im guessing thats because its straight axle in the front and not independent. Quick response appreciated I dont want to tear anything up.
