I have never smoked. But I do congratulate all of you that have stopped smoking!
For those of you that haven't been able too so far, but are continuing to try, well don't give up, because if you want it bad enough, then it will happen!

|bdrake||been doing a lot of reading apparently the ave smoker burns 250 calories a day just buy lighting up as it increases the heart rate. ........ i have calculated that i was burning 600 calories a day just by sitting on my ass....lol ... no dam wonder ive put on 32 pounds. Jherrington i like your diet the best. i was in the doctors office the other day for the sinus crap floatin around and while i was there asked for a recomendation told im consuming half of what i used to and hitting the tread mill twice a day for the last 30 days and im still gaining weight............ she said the following ......part of that gain is muscle from working out aside from that welcome to america as the majority of the population is fighting weight loss/ gain. she suggested i go atkins or smaller portions with exercise but if i go atkins i can never go back to bread and potatoes as it will wreck me. im not much in favor of that so im on a new quest for the majic diet and or pill lol|

Eat grains, veggies, fruits, and shrimp. Stay away from fast food and red meat.

Hey all, just wanted to chime in with my $0.02 here...
I smoked for nine years straight (starting when I was about 14). The most I had ever "quit" for was two months. At first the cravings would dissipate, then a few months later...BAM. I think the thing that really helped me quit was literally getting sick on smoking so many in one night. In the end, I would go through a pack of Djarum Blacks at a night out at the bar...and felt like @$$ the next morning. Those things are HEAVY. I preferred the feeling of not wanting to vomit over the cigs themselves, so I declared it to be quittin' time. Permanently. I cut out cigs (and ganja) cold turkey.
Bdrake...your description of the first few days is mighty accurate. As time progressed, it got better. Then one day my mum mentioned something to me about when she quit smoking...she knew she had finally kicked the habit (after 20+ years) when the smell of other peoples' smoke bothered her. I can now verify that to be true! When I'm around smokers, the smell makes me sick to my stomach. So yeah...been nearly ten years and the cravings are all gone and I'm confident to say that I'm 100% done.
Hang in there guys...it's tough but SO worth it in the end!

I quit in May after 33 years of pac-a-day smoking, never once trying to stop. Told myself I enjoyed it. HA! Tried an ecig on a Wednesday (15May13), smoked my last nail the following Saturday and never looked back. Rough going for the first 2 months but I am fine now. I still use the ecigs but have decreased my nicotine intake to about 25% of what it used to be.
Good luck to all you "quitters" out there, I'm behind you 100%!!

If every one you light up, you must put out somewhere on your body. I would bet people would quit post haste.
Good luck every one. I heard it is a hard habit to break. My uncle quit like 10 times before he was and my grandma had her second heart attack before she quit.
