In Louisiana there's a 2010 5.3 high output with 6l80e with 50k for $3k in louisiana.
Someone pick that up. It's on craigslist.

Evap and fuel system is up next!
LSU let back in today so work on the jeep will probably slow more.

|tomba||definately NOT talking to yourself...I've been watching this since the beginning to figure out if I could do it too or should I just drop the extra coin to buy everything prefab.|

A good bit.. I'm not too worried about cost though. Just want to finish it.
The stock trans lines won't work with the LS3 headders.
Or, maybe they will, but they will require bending the lines. Because they will be mighty close to the exhaust.

|Mini-Monster||I have read this and wow. This has made me want to try this engine swap in my jeep. Keep up the good work. How much do you have into this project now?|
|08-10-2014 07:41 PM|
Oh, got the fan mounted. I used some angle aluminum and some self tapping screws.
I'm actually pretty content with how it looks.

|jherrington||Fan should be here today!|
|08-04-2014 05:54 PM|
|jherrington||ordered the novak spal fan. FTW|
|08-04-2014 02:09 PM|
Just kidding. With the Novak CAI, the thunderbird fan AND the stock fan won't fit.
Back to the drawing board.
|08-03-2014 08:55 PM|
|jherrington||okay, i cut it up enough to barely make it fit.. i realized the grill actually sits about 39 inches out from the firewall as opposed to the 37 that i was working with|
|08-03-2014 07:49 PM|
|jherrington||the fan is too thick... the stock one will fit, but i have no shroud to go on it.. suggestions?|
|08-02-2014 10:14 PM|
|jherrington||Got the drive train moved forward a to the most forward setting on the motor mounts to get a little firewall clearance.. Today was pretty productive.|

|08-02-2014 08:03 PM|
|jherrington||installed the transfer case. woo!|
|07-31-2014 06:41 PM|
|jherrington||Dremmeled down the yoke. Fit just fine. Shaft doesn't slide in and out anymore. Works for me.|
|07-30-2014 11:20 PM|
|jherrington||This yoke thing is holding up the whole project.. I'm about to take the one I didn't touch, the one I got from AA, to a machine shop and tell them to make it to where it's the same as the stock one.|

My attempt at replicating that "step" with the dremmel with the new yoke.
<a href="http://s770.photobucket.com/user/Jherrington1/media/F5EFF3B0-D62B-44B8-B7CA-329D14B60EE8_zps90mndlek.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/xx344/Jherrington1/F5EFF3B0-D62B-44B8-B7CA-329D14B60EE8_zps90mndlek.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo F5EFF3B0-D62B-44B8-B7CA-329D14B60EE8_zps90mndlek.jpg"/></a>
That didn't work. So I ordered a new yoke. Whatever.
|07-21-2014 09:56 PM|
After almost installing the transfer case I decided to take the front output yoke off once again.
I found the old one and slid it on and with a little help, it snugged on in there and didn't have any play with the shaft like I did with the other yoke...
|07-20-2014 08:29 AM|
Yeah, these things pull some air!
|07-19-2014 11:27 PM|
I picked the lowest one, it gave the best angles, while still fitting (I think) with the stock chevy trans mount on the jeep skid plate.
If the case hangs too low, I could always fabricate a "box" or step like object for the mount to mount to so that it will be at a higher elevation clearing the case from the skid plate.

Picked up a 97 ford thunderbird electric fan..
I *think* it's the same, if not relatively close, to the lincoln mark 8 fan.
It's relatively thin, about 4 inches.
It was going to be very close with the mechanical fan and the radiator and I think I'm going to move the engine up a notch to get more space from the fire wall because I'm about 1/4 I an inch from the firewall on the passenger side.
