Cut a hunk of newspaper or thick masking paper a bit larger than the floor area. Push it down on the floor, fold it in the places to make it conform. Then magic mark the folds.
Take it out, cut out the lines you made - now you have the form.
You can sew the seams together - or easier yet - use carpet tape on the backside. Use a good quality tape - Home Depot stuff won't last. Get it from a carpet installer - good stuff!

Liner the inside!!!!
It really does suck when i bought my jeep the first time i went out it was a bitch to clean. So i just rip it out and rinio liner the floor boards. Its so much nicer just spray it out and comes clean so much easier. It's really nice.:d:d:d:d

i would still use floor mats and stuff.
it's just 'carpet' with plastic fibers.

|IndyJeepMan||Yeah to each his own, but sounds like a bad idea to me IMO.|

|dj_chizzle||i thought i'd heard everything, but astro turf in a jeep?|

|daanbc||I did that to one of my old cj's. DON'T DO IT. The artificial turf/grass holds all kinds of dirt and water. It is a REAL pain to clean(try getting all the dirt out) You never will completly clean it. Just my opinion.|

I plan on picking up a 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara edition this weekend (this will be my second jeep, I had to sell my old one a short time ago) The jeep I'm picking up has the portions of carpet that go over the wheel wells, over the center hump (all but the pieces that lay flat) removed. This is understandable, that carpet gets screwed up over time, but what I would like to do is re-carpet it with artificial Turf. I had this idea with my previous jeep, and just never got to it, however my problem is this... when i tore the carpet out of my old jeep, i could see very easily where to cut and sew it to make the angles and what not, with the Newer TJ wheel wells, they dont have the flat surfaces of the old YJ/CJ... are there any templates to cut a flat piece of carpet and origami it up to make it fit? i know its mostly molded at this point, but how does new carpet come in the mail?
