78j10 Your trans is a issue too. i would assume that its a 4psd with granny first or are you running a 3spd? If its a 3spd 5.13's for sure. 4 spd could get away with 4.56s if your not on the highway alot.... just my .02 cents

Bignuke With that size engine I would say no... maybe 4.88 or even 5.13?

With 4:56 and 35's could she still chug???

Ok so i have a 1980 cj7 with an AMC 151 4 cyl in it. currently i have a 4 inch lift with 33 X 10.5 swampers. i want to bump up to 35 X 12.5 should i gear to 4:56??? And would the engine even be able to turn the tires??? All help and suggestions would be appreciated!! Thank you
