I bought the Rusty's 2" BB with the 1" BL and put it on an '06 TJ. It was great, cleared 32s easily. My only problem was the shocks...it rode like a wagon. I put some skyjacker Hydros on it and it rode good again.
Now I have an LJ I put Rusty's 3" springs with 3/4 spacers, and the same 1" BL. It rides great clears 33s.

Do a little searching around - and you can find the RE kits from various vendors w/ a SYE and CV shafts included. Prices are a deal i think too.

I had the rustys 3" on one of my jeeps for a while. I thought it had a good road ride, and did very well off-road for what it was. I did go with a adj front track bar vs the drop pitman arm. I had the t-case drop and I think I added a 1" body lift as I used the jeep off-road a lot. Tires are 33x12.50 TSL's on 8" rims

spacers on a 3" spring lift?
how much do you want to drop the TC?
1.5"-2" i think. that looks very ugly. i think everyspring lift over 2.5" should get an additinal SYE and CV driveshaft.
with the 3" lift and spacers (and dropped TC) you have the same ground clearance than with a 2" lift and a BL.

The idea of a 3" suspension lift with the possility of adding spacers later sounds like it may be a good option.
It will probably be many years before I upgrade whatever lift I do now....since I just bought this, it'll probably be 4 years before its paid off and would think about going more extreme.
So I'm really looking for what would give a good ride on and off road. Ideally....is it best to create a lift with shocks and springs rather than just spacers?
And I didn't really consider the problems of the tranny if I lift the suspension too high and have to drop the transfer case....but also try to lift the body.
I was looking at primarily these two kits I guess...or something similar..
or this with the body lift add-on

Persoanlly if you're thinking about going to something more extereme in the future then I would go with the Skyjacker BB and maybe a 1" BL. With that set-up you can even run 33's. You can always keep the BL and add a coil spring suspension later on. Another option would the Rubicon Express Super Flex kit. It's a little more money upfront but it's also a kit you can grow with by adding their long arm upgrade later.
Depending on how soon and how big you want to go in the future will be an important factor in how much you want to spend today. If you're like me and installed a suspension lift then the next week started looking at other suspension lifts then I would spend as little as possible today that way your total investment will be less in the long run.

|BADBlue||To be honest i have 4 inches and 33s and run 75mph highway, easy. You are gong to be the happiest with the supension lift vs body. If you do decide on a body lift then i would recomend gap gaurds for appearance. If you go with the rusty's 3" you could even get coil spacers with that and get an extra inch or two. The good thing about that is they run like $20a pop. Thats 80 bucks for 2 inches. That would give you 5 inches and you could almost even fit 35s but definitely 33s. What do you think?|

A little function and appearance. I do mostly street driving, half interstate and half city. But I'd like the ability to do some wheelin' too. So the 32's or 33's are for looks and a compromise from what I've read of street and offroad driving. I don't expect to climb 6 foot rocks, but would like to do some dirt trails, snow, and minor rocks if possible. But I also want to maintain something that can go 70mph on the interstate.
Guess from what I've read, 2-3" of lift is probably more practical for me than 4" or more. ANd I don't think a body lift of more than 1" would be good based on what I've seen....but correct me if I'm wrong. I'd rather not spend tons of money, but if a few hundred more dolalrs will get me a better ride, I'd do it that way. Seems like all the options I listed above are below 500 bucks.

I've seen a bunch of threads on different types of lifts, but I could use a little comparison being a newb. I just got my TJ and will be lifting it in the coming months. I'd really like to run a 32 or 33" tire, something with good street manners still since its a DD and will only see some mild to moderate offroad use since I'm new to that too. Eventually I may go more extreme when its paid off and I have another vehicle to drive.
So, is it better to do a
1) Skyjacker BB 2" lift that includes spacers and shocks and a 1" engine/body lift.....
2) a 2" lift like Rusty's that includes the springs and shocks, and a engine/body lift
3) or a 3" lift like on Rusty's that has the springs, shocks, transfer drop, etc.....no body lift.
4) other options...
How do each of these compare in ride, etc....since they all provide basically the same lift. I'm assuming 3" of lift will run 32 or 33's without problem. Especially since I'm not likely tob e bottoming out much with my types of driving.
