2011jeepwranglerunlimited Search party from one side of America to the other? If we find the idiot who did this let's ruin his life! Crush his real car like the US marine armer devision did to an Iraqi car with an Abrams tank. Revenge is sweet but receiving it is crappy. Let's show this person why they shouldn't jack another jeep again!

motokeen Did they ever find your jeep? Or do they have any idea who may have took it?

bluegrass107 Sorry to hear Jerry, hope you get the Jeep back. I lived in San Diego for 5 years in the 90's while in the service. Loved that town but my jeep suffered; it was like every 6 months someone was trying to steal it. 6 times in five years. By the time I left in 1996 my steering column had been replaced twice. The only thing that saved me was a truck club that I kept on my steering wheel. The club was hammered too ; there was no rubber left on it and it had many many dents all over. There's no worse feeling that of getting robbed. Sorry bro.

Jerry Bransford Yep I bought a 2004 Rubicon from Gerald of Savvy Offroad. It's a nice Jeep but it needs work to get it ready for the trail. The compressors for the lockers aren't even installed right now, I have a lot of work to do to it... but I got a great price on it.

AzTJ Jerry was paid by insurance and he bought a new Rubicon that's already got some mods on it.

i like this idea.... i work in downtown Harrisburg, over night and since i got the jeep i look out the window at it almost every half hour to an hour to make sure it's still there and unharmed.. between drunk people and some of the people that wonder around there i can't trust any of them.. some cars were keyed the over week and i was nervous for my SS i'm not worried about that anymore now it's the breaking in and taking the jeep..

AzTJ Hey Jerry, your insurance is AAA?

jpdocdave thanks for the update jerry, good luck, there's no winner in these situations. they still won't give you everything you deserve.

EDIT: Jerry, you may want to post up a laundry list of it's parts. I know your rig had some prototype parts on it. If they try to part it out it should be easier to track them down.

ExDementia You are pretty lucky given the circumstances (not to have your jeep stolen though)

Jerry Bransford No real news other than AAA recently assigned an independent appraiser to my case. I'm told that only happens when they feel the vehicle has some kind of an unusually high value. It turns out the appraiser has been doing this for many years but the best news is he REALLY knows Jeeps. He rattled off the brands of things I had installed onto my Jeep like Rubicon Express, Currie, Warn, etc. & said it was by far worth more than any other '97 Wrangler he had appraised. He then said if it had instead been built with ProComp, Smittybilt, etc. it wouldn't be worth anything extra at all. So between my 104 line item spreadsheet, receipts, photographs, etc., submitted to them I'm hoping to only get a mild screwing. He also said that AAA told him they were planning on "taking care of me on this" and that if my insurance had been Farmers, State Farm, Geico, etc. that I would be screwed. He's independent, not AAA, so that was good to hear.

I figure I have another week to two weeks before they talk $$$. I am not planning on accepting their first 2-3 offers, they always low-ball you at first. I'll keep you all posted, wish me luck.

ExDementia Ive been out a while and only just now saw this in your sig but DAMN that sucks man I can't stand when this kind of crap happens to good people Like you said, I'm sure its long gone across the border
I can only imagine the horrors she's going through, being fed leaded fuel and used non-sinth oil then being forced to drive on painstakingly smooth roads with no rocks for her to climb in sight...

Even though the odds aren't in your favor, I hope they find something

Any plans on a new beast? (or is it too soon?)

02Prove Here's a thought... just make sure you're always in it so you can negotiate the surrender of the next thief!

I went through this with AAA many years ago. I went and found three vehicles that were similar that were for sale and showed it to them. They eventually bumped up the price. Good luck Jerry.

Hey Jerry, what's next ? What are you going to replace it with ? Very curious.

dpc46 Dang that blows, will be praying for you. Knew someone that had. Lifted Toy, omg it was amazing looking. Was stolen 5 time and returned stripped everytime. Insurance replaced everypart everytime. After the 5 time the said screw you, gave himsome money and kept the Toy

Ravelco Anti Theft Device
that's a lot of money... you could make something yourself for a fraction of that cost...

i have a killswitch in mine (crappy college neighborhood...) that I think is pretty sweet. It's just a red push button, and when I push the button, it opens up the connection to the starter, so the engine doesnt turn at all. and i have a magnetic reed switch hidden somewhere under my dash that only i know where it is. to close the circuit (make the starter functional), you need to swipe a magnet (how many thieves carry a magnet with them) over the hidden switch, which closes the relay to the starter.

i love the thing, but couldn't have done it without my pops help. all in all, i think i maybe paid 15 bucks for a red alarm light to let me know when the jeep is "dead", and a couple magnets. my dad got an extra relay and reed switch from his job, so those were free. and we had some wire lying around in the garage. oh and like 3 bucks for a red bush button switch from radio shack
