motokeen Some of the new wranglers have mounts for car seats. The seatbelt doesn't work the greatest alone. You will most likely have to get extentions for the straps as they are on the floor and mine won't work. I will use the seatbelt and the straps once I get the extentions.

05GT-O.C.D. Here, made by Bestop for the TJ's, again highly reccommended by me and they have front seat covers that match pretty well if you're concerned about matching your front seats.

Or, you could just by a JK which already has this style seat from the factory.

05GT-O.C.D. Here's the thing. They're directly over the rear tire/wheel/axle so in a side collision they're going to be in good shape. In a front collision, they're in about the same position as most other vehicles. The only worry I have is in a rear collision, but there's still a bumper/tailgate/rear tire etc there, and especially in a car seat he'd be pushed forward and wouldn't suffer a direct blow unless the person behind you was in a truck and completely not paying attention and hit the back of the Jeep at a very high rate of speed. Even then, I'd rather him be in a Jeep than most compact cars. I feel he's very safe back there, he loves the ride. I also take my doors off in the summer and don't worry much about it. I don't see the front door offering much protection to him in the back. Also, since I took the above pic I purchased a new rear seat with headrests. I HIGHLY reccommend it for anyone who rides a back seat passenger who's head is higher than the back of the seat. Best money I've spent on the Jeep, IMO. Let me see if I can find a pic.

jhawthorne22 Ive seen many people with car seats in the back and they worked just fine. On my 97 i tried putting 2 back there for my nephew and neice and for some reason the car seats wouldn't sit up straight. Good Luck!

3-yr-old safe in car seat of Wrangler????

I'm new to forum and not yet a wrangler owner, but hope to change that super soon! I'm wondering if anyone out there has a car seat in their wrangler. I've wanted a wrangler for years and actually would prefer an older one. I have a 3 yr. old boy and my husband questions the safety of putting a child in a car seat in the back seat. He also worries about the rough ride. He's a tough little thing and a nature boy already and loves the windows down in the car, so I really don't think it would be a big deal. I would obviously not have all the doors off when he is with me, unless we were just around town. I really want this car and think my husband may be overly worried. Surely people put kids who still sit in car seats in Wranglers, huh??????? Please help!
